New rewards card

I have a rewards card that expires in 12/09 but am heading to Disney in Jan. I've got a good amount saved up as available that I can use on the trip. But I do not want to put it on the existing card as it will expire before we go.

If I order a new card, does anyone know what the expiration date on it will be?

I don't want to run into a situation where they are replacing the existing card and therefore put an expiration date of 12/09 on it. I also don't want to wait to order a new card until Jan and not have it show up before we leave.

Any insight would be great! Thanks.

Are you talking Disney rewards if so I am 99% certain that I read that they can issue new cards at Guest relations and put the rewards on it.

Yes, I'm talking the Disney rewards that you get with the Disney Chase Visa.

The expiration should be 12/2010. It should say on the screen when you order the card when it will expire.

Also if you have points on the current card you can purchase Disney Dollars. I know this can be done in the stores, but I don't know about online. It was a suggestion the clerk had made to me the last time I was at the store.

You can pick up a new card at Guest Relation, call Disney Visa and transfer points while at WDW. I am 100% sure as I have done it twice.

It doesn't matter when you order your card it will expire in Dec of the next year.

I recently tried purchasing Disney Dollars or gift cards (would have taken either) at our local Disney store and was told that I could not use the rewards cards to make a purchase for either.

To test the theory I ordered a new card with just 20 points. It came with an expiration of 12/2010. Now I'll add the rest of the points to that card.

Last year I had the same problem Dec. 08 to Jan 09 and when I called the rep from the Disney VISA told me I could not get a card with a 2009 expiration on it even though it was De 1, 2008. I tried again the next day got a different rep and a different response and got the card in the mail with a Dec 2009 expiration on it. Once again it depends who you talk to.
I am going again in Jan 2010 and need to get my points on the card, I am going to try to get the date Dec of 2010, if not we are going in Oct. DH and I so I will use it then.

No matter when you order your card it will always expire in December of the following year not the current year. If you order your card now it will expire in December 2010. This has always been the case for me. Now if you just add points to a current card the rewards will expire on the date of the card. I always just order a new card incase something comes up I will have that extra year to use them.
