Do all the handicapped studio rooms have just a king bed??? WE just changed our reservation to beat the storm in on Sunday and were told the only room left was handicapped accessible. One bed is NOT going to work for us!

I assume you are talking about a 1 bedroom. All DVC one bedrooms have only the king bed in the bedroom. The living room of a 1 bedroom at BWV also has a queen sleeper sofa.

No, sorry, talking about the studio. Trying to change our reservations has been a nightmare(of course). Even buying 24 points from Disney I was 1 point short to finish out our reservation at BLT --we added Sunday and Monday to our trip. Booked BLT for Monday but had to go elsewhere for Sunday. Hopefully something else will be available in the morning--there's a studio at Jambo House for Sunday night on the website now--of course, I can't cancel one room and book another online-- which I will switch my BWV reservation for, even though BWV is one of our home resorts and my favorite. Can't do the king bed with DD and DGD and me!

No studios have a king bed. The BWV studios have a queen bed and a full size sleeper sofa. The only DVC studio with 2 beds is OKW, which has 2 queen beds and no sofa.

I know the regular studios don't--are you sure about the handicapped rooms? This is what concerned me when I found it online: "There are handicap accessible rooms available upon request, with a single king bed and roll-in showers instead of a bathtub." It's on a commercial website under the studio descriptions.

Copied from DVC website (same for all view categories):

Accessibility Options

Deluxe Studio - Standard View/Wheelchair Accessible with Roll-In Shower/Option for Hearing Accessibility/1 Queen Bed, 1 Double Sleeper Sofa

This room is equipped with:
Wheelchair accessible route in room
Grab bars at toilet and in shower

Optional communication features, for Guests with Hearing Disabilities, include:
Visual alarm
Visual door knock/door bell alert
Visual telephone call alert
Telephone with volume control
Electrical outlet near telephone jack
TTY equipment available upon request at check-in

Thank you, thank you! I can live with the walk-in shower but not sharing a bed with my bed hog DD and DGD.

Changed to AKL savannah view at Jambo-have never stayed there and my DD and DGD are THRILLED!

I think the issue with king sized beds in HA locations if for rooms, not for villas. No studios have king sized beds.

I see you changed your location. I just wanted to add that this is the first time I recall seeing where one was told it would be a HC room at the time of the reservation, maybe I missed other reports. If they are now tracking rooms or number of reservations such that they can pass on this expectation and assign rooms accordingly, I am thrilled. I hope it's something that's consistent going forward.

It's now listed in the online booking system. There's a box to check for handicapped accessible and it comes up in the room availability.

But the issue here is that the OP did NOT need a HA room and MS was identifying the only available room as HA. Apparently MS seemed to indicate that the OP would get a HA room, though it was not needed. In the past I think it has always just been luck of the draw who gets a HA room if not requested. I have read complaints about people booking close to 11 months out and not needing HA but getting one at checkin. This post makes it seem like a not-needed HA room is assigned to the last person who books. I am not confident that this is the way it actually works. I hope I am wrong but I just don't think that room assignment works like this even with the new online system and the new ADA rules.

I wonder if they have made the HA villas a separate "internal" booking category. If so, it makes sense that MS would know if someone was getting one.

Maybe the system doesn't book the HA category villas until all the non-HA villas are booked, unless someone specifically requests one. That way someone who needs an HA villa can get one if there is still availability, but all villas will end up booked even if someone doesn't want or need one.

I was thinking along these lines as well. But if that is the case then those who get assigned an HA room when it is not requested should get a confirmation that says "HA room." It would be interesting to know if that is what is happening.

I'm not sure if the OP has had their question answered but I can confirm we stayed in a fully accessible studio, garden view at BWV and it had a queen bed and double sofa bed.
