Since we're so close to our vacation dates ive called twice this week to see if we're in the system yet. Today is day 10 since closing. Just wondering when new purchasers were able to book their 1st vacation either by calling ms or when they got their packet. One person said they called morning & evening I was thinking since im on day 10 Id be ok to call once a day...

Closed on March 6th, 2012 and my points were loaded on March 22 and I made my first reservation that day. But that was back when you could get hour membership number from members administration. They won't do that now. So you should have points in your account next week and but you'll probably have another couple of weeks to wait for your membership number to come via snail mail.

My points were loaded about 10 days after closing and then it was a week after that when my member # letter arrived in the mail...so your points are likely loaded around now (existing members will have access to that but since you are a new member, you need to wait for your letter...another week or 2). You can try to call member admin to get you member #, but they aren't as helpful as they used to be.

Notified on 4/30 that deed recorded and closing completed. My hubby called ms admin they couldn't give us the membership # but advised that it was sent out on 5/12. Hopefully we'll get it today or tomorrow. It has been 13 business days and we can hardly wait much longer lol. Dying to book our trip!

We closed 3/26 and received our letter 4/12, so about 2 1/2 weeks for us.

Great news we just received our membership number in the mail today! Best wishes to all who are waiting.

I closed on April 26th and the new contract has not shown up yet. I was really hoping to book a VB beach cottage next March with my new points, but I'm getting worried. :scared:

So even if i call & we're in the system are they going to let me book or are they going to tell me i have to wait?

They will likely tell you that you have to wait and get your membership number in the mail before letting you book. It's a fairly recent development (in the past 6-8 months) that they won't give you your membership number over the phone. I think with a sizable number of resale buyers calling multiple times per day, they just realized how much productivity the people in membership administration were losing to all the phone calls.

Is that the disney way? Disney has always far exceeded customer service in everything normally. Thats why everything is so magical. Take that away by some1 saying, sorry you paid resale, you'll have to wait for your letter in the mail b4 i can schedule you, thats p*ss poor customer service if you ask me.

I agree! We are still paying them and we deserve the same service as direct sales. They will get our MFs and money from us when we vacation.

Disney has no incentive to make the resale process any easier. One of their biggest selling points to get people to buy or add-on directly from Disney is the speed and ease of getting/using those points.

Ummmm direct buyers have the same wait too, it's not a resale only thing.

Not really. Plenty of people have reported that Disney will bend over backward to help direct buyers make their first reservation or direct buyers being able to make reservations before the closing docs are filed.

direct buyers do not have to wait. I received my card on monday and could book the next day. Unfortunately, nothing (!!) that I wanted to reserve was available. Warning: buy the resort that you most want to stay in so you have the 11 month booking advantage. Other wise the two biggest resorts will be your only option (AKV or SSR). No one at Disney told us about this.....cancelled today and put in a offer in resale. good grief this is a lot of trouble.

Interesting.... It's not clear though. We waited (b/c I thought we had to) until we had our membership cards sent to us. We got what we wanted in the end so it didn't matter.

So I was just feeling lucky today, called because I read a thread about the GF & being able to book (misread, thought I could book w/in the 4 month window). Anyway, on the 19th, Quality Assurance let us know that we were processed & that we'd be getting our packet later this week (hopefully). I called today & our points were in! MS was more than happy to schedule my rooms for me. Got my 2 rooms I needed, all worked out. So closed on the 8th, able to book on the 23rd. :goodvibes

Congratulations! You should feel lucky. I have two contracts. One closed on April 24 and the other on May 10. I found out that my name was in the system and my membership ID went out on the first one this past Monday. Today I called Member Admin to see if the second contract had shown up. The lady wouldn't even look up my name, let alone give me the member #. I was really calm and polite, but I asked her, "So you're telling me you won't even look up my name?" And she said no, that there were only two people working the phones and they changed the policy to require the letter because they got so many phone calls. Very unmagical.:confused3

I didn't have the survey option this time. Anyway, everyone else I've spoken to has been at least *tolerant* of my requests. She is the only one who has been at all unpleasant. And I have to say, at least she gave me a reason, even if it wasn't a good one, for shutting me down. When I've dealt with other customer service folks in other forums (namely cell phone providers), the calls have been scripted and very frustrating. Here, she was like, "you're adding to my work load." I mean, she didn't say that directly, but that was the gist. It was actually a pretty long conversation because I'm persistent, but I knew if she wasn't going to look up whether my second contract was in the system she certainly wasn't going to give me a member number. Oh, and her first question was, "Did you buy resale?" Ha ha. I've usually offered that fact up front, but this time I didn't. I'm guessing the number will be in the mail tomorrow. I'm just frustrated because I have points that expire 8/31. No one's problem but mine, but there you go. Worried that I'm trying to plan a Labor Day trip and there will be NO rooms.
