New Purchases and Membership Number

We are new members, closed on a BWV April UY contract on 12/13/13, waiting on membership number, etc from Disney. Today, we are sending closing docs in on second contract, VWL Dec UY. How do I ensure that these contracts are under one membership number?

It won't happen because they are different UY. You'll have two separate membership numbers for the two contracts. The VWL is not an add-on with the same UY.

So everybody with multiple contracts with different UY have separate membership numbers for those said contracts?

How does that affect online access?

You can't combine them to make one reservation. They show up separately. If you want to combine them, you need to transfer one to the other. Then, with transferred points, you have to call MS to make the reservation. Transferred points don't show up on line. They show being transferred out, but not transferred in.

Or you make two separate reservations and ask MS to link them.

So, just to get it straight, when I log into my online account once I get access, will I be able to see both contracts (with their separate membership numbers, etc) there? I'm hoping to avoid the need for two different logins.

As long as they have the same owners, you should be able to see both. You just have to switch between contracts. You can't see both at the same time.

When Deb says owners, the names have to match exactly on both contracts and deeds.

Too late to change now but IMO you didn't do yourself any favors by buying different UY's. Once you experience your ownership, you will see what I mean.

I researched the heck out of different UY, and I know everybody has their own opinion, and I am fully aware of pros/cons. My intentions, although I know they may very well change as we progress down the DVC ownership path, are to keep them separate, using one for family vacations, and one for an annual adult F&W vacation.

Thanks for the info on the name needing to be exactly the same on the deed, I do remember finding that out prior to all of this and have kept that in mind.

If your contracts are fairly equal in size, you can use one to make one reservation (especially using banking and borrowing) and use the other to make your other reservations.

So, in 2014, you stay at BWV and 2015 you stay at VWL. Just watch your banking deadlines to make sure you can still bank if you need to.

Most of our points (275) are in one UY and only a few (50) in our other UY. We wind up transferring or making a short reservation (depending on what we are booking) most of the time.
