New private "Disney" development

Interesting......I wonder what the reasoning is behind it.

I wonder why they have decided to sell the land, its not as if they are short of money surely??!!

Just appears to be Disney trying to appeal to the lower/budget end of the market (i.e. lower than the current on-site Disney hotels).

Seems a slightly odd move in some ways, though: you assume that Disney is trying to attract these lower budget holidaymakers to Disney, so spend their cash at Disney. But Disney (i.e. current park entrance, restaurants and shops) are so expensive, that you wonder how "budget" a holdiay-maker can be for Disney to retain interest...

BUT they seem to have identified a market there and are actively persuing it... (maybe they are looking at immigrants etc on low paid jobs - a huge demographic in the US and especially Florida and California). There are many low income families that are happy to put a reasonable proportion to their small income towards pleasure/entertainment... I remember when satellite TV came out - it was the people living in the council houses who got it LONG before anyone else. So maybe "small income" + "REALLY budget hotel" does not preclude "expensive Disney tickets etc".
