Hi Jade - We were there today for lunch. For the main, both dh & I had the chicken, so did DD from the child's menu. It was presented quite nicely and we all ate it, a lot better than expected. The first course was a family share platter which had a green salad, some vege crudettes, and some fruit in geletain type thing, the strawberrys were quite nice. For desert, it was a share platter consisting of very-mini cheesecakes, a big white chocolate shell, some brownies, seahorses made of solid sugar, choc-chip cookies, and something else, I can't remember.

They also took an official photo upon entry, and it was presented to you in a folder photoframe which was quite nice. We decided to purchase it, as i really liked the frame, around $30 + tax.

The princesses we got were Jasmine, Aurora, Snow White, and Belle. Ariel was great, she spoke with dd for ages!

Hi Jade. :) I ate there with my girls last week. It was far better than what it used to be! I actually thought (as far as food goes) that I got my money worth this time.

They started off with a basket of different kinds of bread, and a tray with different spreads- lowfat ranch, pesto and whipped butter. Then they brought out the tiered starter. I wasn't too keen on some of it, though it was all decent. The girls loved the gelatin (of course ;)) . The string cheese strips were a hit too.

For dinner I got the tri-tip. It was very very good! My daughter got the same thing (kids version). Hers was obviously smaller and came with grapes instead of squash/zuccini/peppers that I had. My youngest daughter got the mac n cheese. I was glad to see it wasn't the crappy Kraft stuff- it looked more homemade. It also came with grapes and strawberries.

I didn't get pics of everything, but here's what I did take pics of.

Ignore my daughter in the background- she has a mouth full of bread. :)

My entree- I asked for medium-well. It was still tender and juicy.

Oops- totally forgot about dessert!

It was a whole lot of chocolate (too much for me!). My girls loved the white chocolate conch shell and the chocolate chip cookie strips. The mini-cheesecakes were very good. The rest of the stuff was decent.

Is this at Ariel's Grotto at DCA??? That sure looks better food-wise then the last two time we have been.

Wow the food looks so much better! We ate there for dinner about 2 years ago and we weren't that impressed with the food... It looks like this set up is much better..

Thanks for sharing!

Oh WOW!!! That looks amazing!!! Thanks for the pics!

I'm glad to know they changed their menu! We stopped eating there a while ago becasue the food was just horrible. We swore we would never eat there again, but now my 2 year old niece is in love with Ariel and we are taking her for the first time in March and I know she would love it there so we are going to give it a try!

Thanks so much for those pictures! I actually liked it really well when we first started going (4-5 years ago), but by last year the food was not as good as the first time we went. This looks like a big improvement! :thumbsup2

Great foto's & review ~ I'm super excited, DD & I will be dining with the princesses in 2 months!

You're welcome! The first thing I thought of when I got there was that I couldn't forget to take photos for Dis. :goodvibes Of course I should have taken pics of the kids meals, but they were pretty standard looking.

It is soooo much better than it used to be! I was talking to our waitress and she said they had been begging for a new menu forever, and that they were very pleased with the new menu and the quality of the food.

I am now pretty confident about recommending them. I wasn't before because the menu was so mediocre.

so i was wondering, the shared plater how does that work??? do they give you the same amout for 1 person as they would 6??? or do they put more for more people.... i'm thinking of trying here but we will be 2 familys with 11 people all together.... so i was wondering if we should go as one big party or 2 small ones and ask 4 tables beside each other....

I would think it would be like other character meals that serve family style. They have predetermined amount of food for each person and plate it as needed. There should be pleanty for your group. You may end up with 3 tiers and three platters of desserts but there will be plenty

was cinderella not there?? I have my kids dressing in custom outfits for just cindy.. uhh ohhh

It varies every time. We saw Ariel (of course), Belle, Cinderella, Snow White and Aurora. We've been several times over the years and I think we almost always saw Cinderella. You should be fine. :thumbsup2

whew.. I was having a panicked moment!

I would imagine that if you didn't have enough on the shared platters you could ask for more. We did with the pastries and cheeses with the breakfast, it was not a problem at all! (my girls aren't big egg eaters so they did the pastries and cheeses w/fruit mostly)

The very last time we went we did not see Cinderella. We saw Pocahontas & Mulan instead. Every other time we went (we went probably 5 times last year and we went once in 06) we saw the standard 5. There is always the chance that you won't get Cinderella but our average was good. :)
