New Potential Owner question

Hi all,
I just passed ROFR and had a question. First, I don't think I can see any availability till I have a member number but I was wondering what your thoughts are on a potential to stay somewhere Oct - Dec? We really don't have a preference on location just that we can go lol.

If you want a studio, there are a few 4-day blocks available at Kidani. Lots of studios, 1BR, and 2BR available at SSR for full weeks. Might be fun to do a split stay and pick up a couple nights at one of the other resorts as well.

Don't get your hopes up, by the time you close and get into the DVC system, those dates may be gone. Plan on staying at SSR and hope for the best.

Availability is always subject to change, but you never know. We just booked 4 nights for Oct at SSR, since that was available and waitlisted for a different resort. People do change their plans and if it comes through, great--if not, SSR will do just fine!

Welcome Home! Just be ready to book the minute you get your Member # and take what's available that will work for your family and then wait list for another resort or 2. I've had great luck over the 2 decades I've been a member with wait list. No guarantees, but be sure to book what's available so you DO have a place to stay! Buying DVC many years ago was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Hope you enjoy yours as much!

If you just passed ROFR you are probably still 6-8 weeks from getting your points. That's early August, which is 2 to 4 months before your expected trip.

I did not look up anything, but based on my data - you MAY be able to find a week at an SSR 1-bedroom (if you have the points), and probably only availability even there would be the 3rd week of November (right before Thanksgiving) or the third week of December. Everything else will be booked by then.


Sorry to be a bummer but just trying to be realistic. We got our point last year in mid-May and wanted to go for 4 days in October and even then the only availability across the whole site was SSR 1-bedroom.

You might be able to get in on a wait list, but if you are counting on it and really intend to go at that time of year, you probably should just book a regular room using one of the current discounts.

You should be able to get something, SSR is by far the most likely. I'd have my ducks in a row so you can book as soon as you get online after getting in the system. Be prepared to use the wait list and spend the interim time figuring out how to do so. Once you're set, you can wait list something(s) you might prefer.
