okay this time on Southwest I meet people who have never heard of Ding or getting email from southwest.

so I meet a couple of people leisure traveling that paid the full price.

do you heard about Ding or email from SW before you started to post here - or only after your posted here?

I've known about Southwest for many years, but they only started flying in and out of Philly in May 2005. I have friends who live in New Hampshire who use Southwest all the time.

At first it appeared that Southwest was not competitive with the other airlines flying in and out of Philly. I could get better rates to Orlando with United/US Airways. I saw the DING software on their website, but DH and I are both a bit wary about that sort of program. We didn't know what sort of sneaky little things were built into it.

We did use Southwest to book a flight to New Hampshire to visit our friends last October.

One day, however, I saw a message here talking about a great DING rate PHL-MCO. I immediately downloaded the DING software and was able to book that rate for our trip to WDW in May 2006. This was when Southwest was offering DING fares several months in advance. I had already booked the reservation at the regular rate with Southwest, so I canceled my original reservation and rebooked at the DING rate.

The rest, as they say, is history. Now I can't live without my DINGs.

Really no different then People going to Disney and not knowing about Fastpass.

But yes I have friends that can't believe the prices I get when flying and some just refuse to believe me from the getgo.

But thats fine That will make it easier for me to keep getting those great rates.

That happens to me too! I booked RT from BNA (Nashville) to MCO for $87 roundtrip for our Oct. trip and people refuse to believe me. I love DING

I downloaded it because I got an email from SW when they first started offering DING giving away 2 rapid rewards credits for downloading and keeping it active for 30-days. I figured that was a small price to pay for the credits ... never figured I would use it so much. I find myself checking it a few times a day!

Although we've had our frequent flyer numbers for years, and were living in Texas when SWA began, I must admit :guilty: that it wasn't until I began lurking on these boards that I learned of the Ding process. :goodvibes
I have gotten so much useful information just by reading the various forums; our trips to WDW are even more magical!
:disrocks: :grouphug:

i have always done my homework and got good fares. Since Ding I have become somewhat obsessed! I traveled Manchester to Ft Myers last week at $44 each way. A couple on my flight who I was talking to paid $500 ea.!!My last 2 trips I have booked and rebooked several times. We are going to WDW in 3 1/2 weeks (6 of us) and I am still watching although I am very happy with my rates and times. I am hoping for a sale tomorrow to book my Jan flights, I currently have $463 in ticketless funds!!!!!
