I received a statement today for our FW ressie in May. I have already given a one-night deposit on my credit card. This statement was requesting the balance due by May 2nd and our ressie starts May 23rd.

Is this a new policy? I was surprised and since I have never done it this way, we have always paid the balance the day we arrive, what is the best way to complete the transaction. I would like to send a check rather than use a credit card for that much $$$ but are they very reliable putting the $$$ in the right place?
Thx!

I just booked yesterday & have 2 weeks to pay my reservation in full as well. I was told it is a new policy as well. I wasn't thrilled with it since we aren't going until Sept 1, but what other choice do you have? :rolleyes1

That's odd, because I just booked on March 7th for 8 nights in November/December at AAA rate, and there is no mention on my confirmation about paying my campsite in advance.

It states I have a

8 NIGHT Magic Moments Room Only

You both might have a Walt Disney Travel Company reservation instead of a Central Reservations Office reservation.

I would have to agree here - WDW Travel Co. books vacation "packages" and those are always "paid in full" prior to arrival. CRO does "room only" ressies and those are "balance due on arrival." I really HOPE that hasn't changed!

I booked in February and received the usually confirmation. Then received a couple of more confirmations then just received the "one" requesting full payment a couple of days ago. It doesn't say if it's booked thru CRO of WDW Travel but when I made the ressie the CM went over the 5 day advance cancel policy.
We have a 9 NIGHT Passholder Room Only

Anyway, this trip makes little difference to me but when you are booking several for the year and they are going to want full payment then WHOA! I'd rather not charge all of that and I don't want to wait to get a ressie because I may not get a site so than what do ya' do? :confused3

Now I see the payments go to Chicago... maybe I should just call back and charge the balance and pay my cc company.

Did you make additional payments or make changes to your reservation??

I'm not sure why they would send you additional confirmation slips unless you made some changes or payments to your reservation??

If you made payments, or changes, it may have been a computer glitch at the time that particular confirmation sheet was printed out.

I would call Disney and confirm that they really want payment up front.

Carol

No, no change. I'll call and if I have to pay up front then I'll pay thru them on my cc. I'd rather pay cash when we check in but if I can't then I can't.

I'm concerned now about my December trip I just booked and one I need to book for October (not decided on FW or other resort). If they want full payments on all of those soon then I'm up a creek!

People over on the resorts board have been talking about messed up confirmations. Most people were correct (payment due at check in) but received incorrect confirmations.

Your reservation is probably fine, but do call and see.

When you call back, make sure you use their $ and use their toll free number! If it is Disney Travel Co., their toll free number is: (800) 828-0228. Either way, I'd use the toll free # since it's not your mistake and they didn't explain it to you when you called.

and just had to give them a credit card to charge the deposit. I have not received any kind of confirmation, except for an e-mail, and nothing has been said about paying anymore until we get there.

Wondering now if I should call them just to make sure everything is still all set. Hmmmm...................

THANKS for the 1-800 number!

We made a reservation the first part of March for the third week of April and all we were required was the initial deposit. We recieved our conformation showing the deposit but nothing about the rest of the money being due prior to arrival. I guess we better check the mail closely so we don't have any surprises on arrival.

I made ressie's in early March for June 4-11 and paid one night's deposit. When AP rate came out last week, I was able to change the rate to the AP rate and the confirmation # stayed the same and the balance due at check in/out was the only thing that changed. There was no balance due before arrival on the new confirmation letter I received.

Of course when we stayed at WDW in December, they didn't send a confirmation letter then. They said it was new policy to not send them unless requested by the guest. Now I have two hard copies, the original and the revised. That policy has changed since last fall. Who knows what may have changed since last week!

I made my ressies for the cabins for June 3-10. I put on the initial deposit but my confirmation also says that the remaining balance is due by 5/13 instead of at check in as in the past. Good thing I was reading this board since I didnt look at my confirmation until after!

Oh, and I just remember I DID modify my ressie, I got the AP RATE!!

Are you others who are having to pay the balance in advance AP holders?

Just wondering why the change. This is the only thing different than I have done in the past. I'll call when I get back from spring break vacation next week to see what they say.

Oh the pain, no DIS for a week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think modifying a reservation alone is the issue, since I modified mine last week to apply a AAA discount and add 2 people and the new confirmation came through with no indication of a balance due prior to my arrival. ::MickeyMo

I don't know what an "AP" rate is, so I can really comment whether that fits me or not. I am not quite sure why are balance was due then. Like I said, our trip isn't until September 1. :confused3

The only thing I can think, is our friend (who we made the reservations with) is a travel agent, so we got her special rates? :confused3

AP = Annual Passholder.

I think to get a travel agent rate the travel agent has to be with you. Even so, it would be worth it to check why/if your balance is due so early.

Your friend may have to make the call for you. When you book through an agent they "own" the reservation & sometimes the cast members at Disney won't tell you anything!

We made reservations in Oct 2004 for Feb 2005 visit.

It makes a difference if you are making Cabin or Site reservations. Cabins require payment in full at some point before arrival. Sites only require one night payment until checkout.

I hope this clears up the confusion
