I am new to renting my points on this forum and I would appreciate some advice on a couple of topics.

Rental Payment Schedule
I sold my points on eBay a few years ago and I requested "payment in full" on receipt of the reservation confirmation. I rented to 8 people all of whom accepted these terms. My first attempt to rent points via this forum failed because we could not come to terms regarding a payment schedule. The “payment in full” terms were not acceptable and the buyer wanted to pay 50% on receipt of the reservation and 50% 30 days before the check-in date. I agreed except I wanted final payment 90 days before the check-in date. I would appreciate any feedback from buyers and sellers as to what is considered a reasonable payment schedule.

Points Transfer
Disney clearly states in the member guidelines that point transfers cannot be associated with a monetary transaction yet it appears that this takes place quite often. I have seen postings for transfers and have been offered a transfer for payment on this forum. I am reluctant to do this as I would be in breach of the guidelines and would be concerned about the consequences if Disney somehow “found out”. Again any feedback regarding this topic would be greatly appreciated

The terms of any rental should be comfortable for all involved. If your payment expectations find resistance from potential renters- your options are to negotiate a different arrangement or wait for a renter who is comfortable with your proposal. Many members will insist on payment in full before 30-60 days prior, most would demand paymetn in full before even making a reservation for someone within 30 days of arrival (if payment wasn't received, the points would have to go into Holding when the reservation was cancelled).

Transfers are not supposed to be for monetary gain. DVC is unwilling to be placed in a position to have to mediate any disagreement regarding a transfer (the transaction won't be reversed by DVC), but they are unlikely to initiate any concern over what arrangement was made between agreeing parties. However, if you are not comfortable with being reimbursed for a transfer, I'd suggest not getting involved in that process.

Good luck!
