New Placeholder Policy

Does it matter if the people that you want to book is not a Castaway Club member yet (so it would be their first cruise)?

I ask because when I booked my placeholder booking onboard, I had to put my husband in one stateroom and myself in the other so that my inlaws would get the obb. I was told that since they have not cruised yet, the only way they can get the obc and 10%off is if they are already a Castaway Club member. Was I told incorrect information?
.......

Yes, you were told incorrect information by the OBB agent. As noted previously, some of them are mistrained and insist on this being done. Both rooms can be booked with first time cruisers if you wanted to do that.

As mentioned, no it's not required to have a CC member in each stateroom to receive the OBB benefits.
I'm guessing you were advised to do this so that each stateroom could receive the CC gift, which is one per stateroom based on highest CC status. It also gives your inlaws stateroom the same online check-in date as you.

Enjoy your cruise!

I believe you are correct about receiving the CC gifts for each room. As well, I had recently called DCL and they reminded me that perhaps the cm had explained to me that we would only be able to check in online together and book excursions if both staterooms have gold members in them. I must have forgotten that. I'm not sure if I was told this, but I would likely do it for this reason.

Thanks for your reply. As I mentioned in my previous post, I don't know if the cm had mentioned the fact that I would have to book a gold member in each stateroom in order to online check in/book excursions together. If he did, then that's likely the reason why I booked it this way.

However, I do agree about some of them having misinformation. I had booked onboard for another vacation, and wanted to confirm something that I was sure was correct, but just wanted reassurance and she has said "no, that is not the case" and was quite adamant about it. But I asked if she could just check with a manager or something so I can book accordingly, and although she was a bit upset about going over to the other cm, she went over and when she came back, she said that it must be a new policy (which I knew wasn't true) but she didn't actually say I was correct.

Anyway, this was a placeholder that I was booking. I'm actually so glad to hear that we can just book it as a confirmation without actually taking a stateroom.
