I was at EPCOT this Tuesday and walked into the Italy pavillion and saw some sort of construction at the end of the pavillion next to the Tutto Italia restaurant. When I got home I saw on another theme park site a photo trip report showing the construction and mentioning that it will be a new pizzeria, does anyone know more about it like will it be table or counter service and will it be Disney or someone else running it.

Yes, I've seen info on other sites. Don't know if I can mention them but there were photos there, too. I believe it said that counter service pizzaria would be run by the same company as the restaurant there.

I'm not sure why we wouldn't be allowed to mention other sites, but would somebody PM me the info, I'd like to see the pics. I'm helping a friend plan a trip and would like to clue her in on any new places to eat. :goodvibes

I think this is a great idea. I always love more CS food options in Epcot. We usually "eat our way around the world" so we love CS places.

Oooh, perfect! Pizza is probably everyone's favorite (especially the kids!) so it's a good thing they're putting that in. I can't wait to try it.

I hope they have different/gourmet pizza. We don't need another Pizza Planet. I mean, that pizza is decent and edible, but I hope for more from Italy!

I totally agree, have you seen how they make the kind of pizzas they have in Pizza Planet,it's like a mechanical pizza assembly line where a machine shoots out so much sauce,so much cheese and like 5 pieces of pepperoni per pizza.I want real pizza not something that tastes like it came out of a box,I think WS needs something like that.

I hope they have this finished by the end of the year! We are hoping to go for Christmas/New Years. I love GOOD pizza. Not the pre-fab stuff like at Pizza Planet. I don't have to have gourmet, cheese or pepperoni is fine with me. But a lot of folks love gourmet pizza, including my DH. This is great as I have always felt like Epcot needed some better CS optins. We ate at the American Adventure one time--yuck. It was edible but that was it. Next trip we will be on DxDP so we can have TS as much as we want. It isn't that we eat a lot...it is the quality of food that matters to us.

Disney has a horrible track record with pizza. Hopefully the same folks running Tutto will run the new place and not Disney. I seriously doubt that a CS in the parks will sell anything "gourmet" though, especially if it accepts the dining plan.

There's no rule against mentioning other sites unless the site is banned, and if it is banned it will be starred out when typed.

It's tough to mass produce pizza and do it well. We've had the pizza (not my choice, it's what my kids wanted ) in a bunch of WDW locations, and I think it's all the same--Pinocchio Village Haus, Pizza Planet, the place across from Fantasmic (Catalina Eddie's??) and Pizzafari. The crust is bleh. The sauce tastes cooked, not fresh, and they use way too much tasteless cheese. The pizza window at Spoodles/Kouzzina isn't any better.

Considering WDW's track record with pizza, and also having sampled the pizza in Italy during the F&WF, I'm not very optimistic. :sad2:

Part of the complaints about Disney pizza may be the fact that they are currently using whole grain crust and low fat cheese, but even that can be good if the pizza's made properly, and mass-produced pizza is hard to make properly.

Boardwalk has the best pizza on property. It's by the slice or a whole pie. Very Yummo!!!

We ordered room service pizza at WL once. It was good. It wasn't like Pizza Planet Pizza. It was a big pizza and it was fresh tasting. I have noticed that all the in room dining menus have large pizzas on them. Maybe the pizzeria in italy will be like that, at the very least. I am excited about the new pizzeria in Italy, though, because my kids just will not eat anything from many of the WC CS places.

Yay, finally a pizza place! I hope they make it good pizza (I am not a fan of Pizza Planet - ick!).

I am keeping my fingers crossed it is a good pizza place. I love pizza and would welcome a new counter service meal.

That would be nice it, we love pizza and are probably going to go with the QSDP or no plan at all this year to keep the budget down.

That is awesome, I just hope it isnt the typical Disney pizza but the real deal good stuff!
