Disney have released a new photopass website: My Disney Photopass

This is what they post on Facebook

Biggest thing to note is that they have changed the expiration policy - it is now 45 days from the date the photo was taken! For me at least now it won't matter if I start looking while we are there as I won't be wasting 'editing' time.

I assume this is in readiness for linking to the magic bands.

that is great news! I'm actually hoping that when they link it to the magic bands it might (she says hopefully) negate the need for a trip to DTD the night of arrival or having to stop at the photo center on the first day in a park to get it activated. It would be really nice if it activated by default at check in .....

Now the big question: Will the new site be any faster than the old one? :rotfl:

I agree, this is great news alright! :) Where is the PhotoPass redeemable from at MK?? It's our first visit but have purchased PhotoPass+ after reading so many great reviews. Also, are there PhotoPass photographers at MNSSHP?? Would be AWESOME to get some pics of me and my son in fancy dress! :)

We LOVE PP+!!

You can change it at the photo center in MK. After you go through the turnstyles you go underneath the railway station as you enter the park. Keep to the right hand side and on the right as you enter the park and come out from under the railroad, you will see a building, on your right, with stairs going up to the entrance. There is a Goofy statue next to a park bench there, for the sake of a landmark. The photopass center is in there and you can change your voucher for your card.

Yes, there are plenty PP photographers out during the party at all the usual spots and also at most character meet and greets. There are also extra photographers near the haunted mansion. With PP+ you can get some great ride photos of you in your costumes as well. it's a blast and you'll love every moment of it :thumbsup2

Oh my goodness now wouldn't that be wonderful but oh so NOT going to happen after all this is Disney IT we're talking about :rotfl2:

Hope they get some more photographers onto the streets. We have done Photopass for past 4-5 years, always photographers wherever and whenever we wanted them. Last month totally different, very few around. We usually have 100's & 100's taken, this time I think it was 75, really disappointed with it (standard Photopass, personally the plus would be a waste for us)

Is that the same place to buy the attractions + card?

Wayne, there were numerous threads on the theme parks board about a month ago and apparently due to 'changes to Photopass' there really were less phtographers around 'for a while' although nobody seemed to be able to get any definitive information beyond this. Lots of complaints about it. Another effect of this was lack of magic shots which I believe were (are?) limited to the ones in front of the main park icon at each of the four parks.

yes, it would be as that's where the Photopass desk is :)

We had a character meal at Chef Mickey's on our first morning just over 2 weeks ago...we had the PP+ voucher on us and they were able to issue our PP there and then!

Never saw those threads but we won't be doing it again.
Oh yes we asked a few times for magic shots, they all said they had stopped doing them :confused3
It wasn't too bad for us being part of a share (4 familes) but there is no way I would pay full price now for 1 family.

Thanks 2Tiggies! That's FAB! Am hoping there's plenty of photographers around coz otherwise most of my photos will be of just my son. Sorry if am asking WAY too many questions (esp if they're silly ones) but are there many PhotoPass photographers at character meet and greets or is it just a case of there's so many characters just wandering round the park and you have to catch them when there's a photographer nearby?? I know that sounds virtually impossible but nothing surprises me when it comes to theme parks (I realise Disney is not to be compared with the likes of Alton Towers but it's still a business at the end of the day and am assuming they only have a certain amount of photographers who loads of people want to have their photo taken by) Sincerest apologies if this isn't making much sense but am shattered after a "shop til you drop" day getting as many of last bits for hol and preparing for Auntie's wedding tomorrow! Thanks!

You don't get that many characters roaming around the parks. In fact, you dont' see them roaming as such - the 'random' characters you see walking around are usually walking out to a designated meet and greet spot that may or may not be published in the times guide and these often do not have a PP photographer. The ones in dedicated greeting spots pretty much always have a photographer assigned. If there is no photographer for whatever reason, there is ALWAYS a character handler and they will be only too happy to take photos of both of you with your camera. Is it just you and your son? It s only me and my DD which is why PP is a winner for us or we would have the same situation. In fact it was after our second trip when I realized that I had hundreds of Disney pics and I featured in a grand 7 of them that I started doing PP.

As for lots of folk wanting photos taken the lines are actually pretty orderly and it's not a free for all. You will get the odd person who doesn't understand (or pretends not to) how queueing works but that's the exception rather than the rule.

OOps hit submit before I finished!

You line up for characters. When the family in front of you is finishing up, the photographer will pull you to one side, take your card (and you can pass your camera at this point to a character handler if you so wish) and then you step up to the character and they take the photos. They hand the card back to you as you exit the greeting area and repeat with the next guests.

All the best with the wedding tomorrow :goodvibes

Awww, thanks guys! It's just me and my son. He's 6 and (without wishing to sound like a drone) was diagnosed with Autism earlier this year and I was diagnosed with Secondary Progressive MS. I've always been sensible with savings and had "rainy day" money but it's got to point where I can see myself in pics but have no real memory to go with them. I just thought one day, "sod it, this is a rainy day". My son deserves his every dream to come true so I went to the travel agent and booked 2 wks at Hilton Bonnet Creek, Premium Economy Dreamliner, airport lounges, airport hotel the night before, character brekkie, attraction tickets and limo transfers... by the end of the day, had also booked loads of other stuff (Medieval Knights dinner show, MNSSHP etc) and spent best part of £10,000! My son's one of my best friends, the other is my mum. She would HATE a trip like this but 2 wks quality bonding time is worth EVERY penny in my book! Hence am asking SO many questions! Want it to be perfect but also as stress free as poss and as many pics of the 2 of us as poss! Sorry for getting a bit emotional! :)

I totally get it. Really, I do!!

I have a completely different story and my DD was also 6 when I took her for her first "once in a lifetime" trip. I still sometimes get emotional when I remember the moment I got onto the first Disney bus and heard the "Welcome aboard .... " announcement and started saying out loud "I did it! I did it!" It will be special no matter what you do or don't do. Keep expectations realistic, don't see not being able to do something you planned to do as a failure and relish every moment for what it is. It's about being together and don't be surprised if it throws your relationship with your son into a whole new dimension. It sure did that for me and my daughter. We were always close, but that trip really upped it a few notches, and then some. Now go get some sleep before that wedding!!! ;)

Someone on FB said they've just returned and they only got 1 magic shot and not many photographers about. Bit expensive !

The magic shots are nice, but not the reason I buy Photopass. But if it's a struggle to get 100 shots onto my card I'd have to reconsider the value in it. That said, we did always buy ride photos and so with PP+ we are already scoring. We also love autograph hunting so we tend to clock up a fair number of pics with those too. But for folk with regular photopass and who don't have kids/aren't into character greetings, it can be a lot of PT for a few expensive pics. personally, I would be contacting PP and mention this. In fact I probably would have already said something at the parks, but I think they should know that guests are dissatisfied with the current cuts while the redo their system (Whatever they are doing to it)
