New Passholder need room ressie help!!

Hi everyone,
We are planning our first ever AP trip for June 28 to July 6 next year. I have been checking to see if there's any AP rate historically during that time frame. I am very hopeful that some kind of discount might be coming soon. But my DH worries that if we wait for the AP discount rate to show, we might not be able to book the room of our choice. We plan to stay 2 nights @ AKL Club then 7 nights @ AS-Sport with Dlx DDP. We are AAA members.

Does anyone know if you could book with AAA discount and AP holder perks?
OR
Should we wait until the AP discount rate releases for our dates?

Care to share your thoughts?

Why not book the AAA now, and if an AP rate comes out later, switch to whichever's better? At least you'd have the reservation you want.

Definitely book with the AAA rate. Then if and when the AP rate is release, you can have it applied to your reservation. That's what we did for our upcoming July trip and have done that numerous times in the past. We book through Magical Journeys so the AP rate is applied for us automatically the morning of its release but you could do it yourself. Just keep checking for when it comes out and do it as quick as possible.

Book what you want now. You can always apply a better code when one (if one) comes out.

Right now I have a ressie under the buy 4, get 3 deal because it was the best thing out there and I didn't want to miss out. We are AP holders though, so I'm watching for a room only rate to be released. If one is (we're going in June), then I'll price it out. If it's better, I'll cancel the package and book the room only--if our resort is available (I won't switch resorts this time). If it's not (the package discount for our fall trip was better than the AP rate bottom line), I'll stick with the package. And if no code is released, at least I save a little over $1000!
