I can’t see that this is being discussed anywhere else, so sorry if I’m duplicating.

Looking at the new ‘temporary’ rules requiring a theme park reservation to enter MK starting July 20.

What I can’t work out, is whether this prevents park hopping to MK or not, or does it only apply to entering your first park after 2pm without a reservation?

My interpretation is if you have a park reservation at any park then you can enter MK after 2 pm. If you don’t have a park reservation, you can enter HS, Epcot or AK after 2 pm but you can’t enter MK. This is subject to change.

ETA - currently you can’t enter MK after 2 pm on Saturday and Sunday without a park reservation. So, sounds like they are extending this out for weekdays.

The NEW (very new - just announced) rule sounds like you MUST have an MK park reservation. No hopping from another park unless you started at MK. It’s related to the new night-time parade; they apparently don’t want everyone hopping to MK for the parade.

So, if you make a reservation for Epcot, you can’t park hop to MK? If you want to be at MK for the evening, you must start at MK?
Correct, as an AP if you want to go to MK, at any time of day, on any day you need an MK park reservation. My guess is this will be in place for a few weeks and they may relax it once the Parade has been running for a bit.

But it says you must have “a theme park reservation”. It doesn’t say you must have a “MK theme park reservation”. I see your point and also think they can just not honor park entries if overcrowded. However, think they need to clarify that needing a “park reservation” means you need a “MK park reservation”. I’m sure this will change 99 times before July 20th

Agree. I believe they’re basically saying no Good To Go Days for MK, no entering after 2 pm without a reservation. It clearly says you need a Theme Park Reservation, it does NOT say you need a Magic Kingdom reservation.

I just chatted with a Cast Member after viewing the information on Disney's Passholder page.

She said that since they are expecting large crowds due to the new parade that they RECOMMEND passholders have a Magic Kingdom park reservation for the day they want to visit. She went on to say that you CAN park hop from other parks into the Magic Kingdom from another park that you have an A.M. reservation at, but she would recommend park hopping earlier in the day as park hopping availability is always subject to change.

Thanks. Last year during spring break (when spring break, Easter and Passover all overlapped), didn’t they close the MK one night due to capacity? I can see that possibly happening here.

The devil is in the details. I actually initially read it as needing a MK reservation after 2p; because I was thinking they were using it as crowd control with the new parade. But I can see it both ways and I get more confused the longer that I stare at it. Kind of like the eye exam when I feel like I'm always picking the wrong answer.

It's a W.....no wait, it's a D....hold on, it might be an E....

Who is Scott Gustin and who made him the boss?

Why would WDW announce changes for July 20 and then we can interpret them according to the same rules ?
I plan to have a MK Park Reservation for the days I plan to wait in a very crowded probably at capacity MK .
As interpreted by me.
