New Panasonic TZ1 Compact 10X zoom

Finally pictures taken with the TZ1 are starting to show up. The camera went on sale in Japan on mar 24. Someone got one and has posted pictures. He posted both optical and digital zoom pictures. It is a 10X opitcal zoom camera.

But it's hard to tell much, with static pictures taken outdoors in broad daylight. (Though the digital zoom shots were pretty noisy.) More telling, I think, will be indoor shots, flash, and low light.

The ISO 1600 can't be great (boost mode) because even on the website they only claim it will work up to 4x6 prints. It must be digital-noise galore.

The Panasonic TZ1 is now selling at Circuit City for $332.00.

Movie mode appears to be high quality and you can zoom while taking movies.

I dont think they actually have it yet because it says "notify me when available." I am interested in this one too and cant wait to check it out at the store.

At another web site people are claiming they have bought the camera at Circuit City stores. One person claimed he went into one and was told they don't have any yet then went to another salesman who went into the back room and came out and told him they had five of them. Sounds like CC is paying some people too much money!! I called my local store Sunday and was told they had them.

Just checked the other site again and got one guy claiming he called CC corp office and talked to a manager who claims his computer shows camera not hitting US shores yet. Talk about the right hand not knowing what the left is doing.
