New pal mickey vs old pal mickey question.

I posted this last week and out of 26 posts only one referred to my question. Does anyone know if you have an old pal mickey can it be updated and still used at the parks or do I have to buy a new one?

Disney wants you to buy the new one. But the old one will work as it always has.

I heard that they are going to have a special 50th celebration edition this year because of the disneyland 50th anniversary. Do you mean that new PM vs the old one?

I guess what I'm asking is will the old pal mickey still load in new info when you go into parks or will it have only old info. I think I will ask this again once the new ones come out. Thanks for any info!!
