I don't know History well, so i'm not much help.

I'm sane enough Haz.

I remember when I was about 6-7 and I went to a fancy dress party (I went as Peter Pan) and we did the chicken dance, and whenever the word "bum" came up, the host always said "now don't be rude" and it was the funniest thing ever at the time. Aaahhhh nostalgia.
