For those of you that have been following my saga, you know that I have been trying to figure out what to name our little boy that is coming in June. DH and I had differing opinions that we should stick with an "M" name, since DH, myself, and our DD's name's all start w/ M's. I agreed with most of you that we should name him a different letter, so not to fall into the "M family" trap. So now, DH springs a new name on me. Not sure if I like it, but it is kind of growing on me.....

Here goes........

Cooper?

Please share all thoughts (good, bad, etc.). The one thing I keep thinking of is bad nicknames....

I absolutely LOVE this name. It's on my top 5 boys name list!!! :thumbsup2

I guess it would depend on your last name if you choose Cooper~lest he sound like a law firm :teeth: :rotfl:

There are sosoooooo many M names though. Don't you have any that you like? I think Matthew, Michael, Morgan, Max, are all great M names!! :thumbsup2

Cooper?

My husband's cousin has a boy named Cooper. He is the same age as my girls (started K this year). The name fits him perfectly. They buy him little mini-cooper hot wheels :teeth: . I have not heard that the kids ever tease him. I really like it.

Denae

I have a friend that named her second son cooper. It was a family name. Anyway, she says she now has "Carter the Farter and Cooper the Pooper." :teeth:

I like the name but we went in a totally different direction with our boys.

Eugene is my husbands name so that's how Gene-Gene got his name. Our first son was named Ben and that is pretty common. Steven is Steven because it is his birthfathers name and his birthmother asked us to use it. I did not have another name so that was easy enough Herne.. We wanted to use my mothers maiden name for Herne's middle name (Ammon) so we needed a good Celtic name (Mom was Scotch/Irish) and Herne was the name of a pre Christian Celtic God and while not common in the US is not unheard of in Ireland and it went with Ammon. Herne Ammon.

JJ.. we were out of ideas. Four boys! What do you name the last one? My fathers name was Jerry and no one had used it yet so he became Gerald but little JJ is a better name for him so we use the nickname. Actually everyone has a nickname here.

I like the name Cooper. Kids who want to tease will do it, no matter what you name your son.
Best wishes. Enjoy your baby every day, they grow up before you know it.

I love it! it is my maiden name! If we had another boy I was going to fight for that name even though is does not go with our last name to well. My sister's son is Brock Cooper cunningham.

I think its a great name and I like the idea that your husband picked out the name for your son. Keep us updated on the name of your little one.

I could not agree with you more.

I don't like Cooper.

Me either.

But I also dont like a lot of "trendy" names: Colin, Carter, etc, etc....

Both my boys are the only Danny's and Joey's in their entire class. Joey's been the only Joey for years and years and years. Yet, there's ton's of Tylers, Colins, and Mason's. :confused3

I think it depends where you live. In the tiny town we used to live in there were a ton of Wyatt's and Dalton's. We moved back here to a larger city, (and flame me for this but it's true- a much higher percentage of higher educated parents,) and the Tom's, Michael's, and Joey's are a dime a dozen.

My boyfriend's nephews name is Quinn. I think that's cute. Cooper is cute, too! I also like Mason! :goodvibes

I like the name but it doesn't really matter what I think or anyone else. This is your child and you can name him or her whatever you like or means the most to you. It is only yours and your husband's decision.

My youngest ds 8 is Kyle But dh wanted to name him Ryder, Now i wish i had because it would have fit him prefectly.
Kim :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy:

My DS played baseball with a Cooper. This team had a nickname of some kind for everyone, so his got shortened to Coop.

Coop did say he wished they had picked a different nickname for him because he went from Cooper pooper to Coop poop.
I didn't hear any of the kids call him that, but it does seem to be a natural extension for boys that age.

I do agree that kids who are going to tease will do it no matter what - but some names just make it almost too easy.

That said I do like Cooper. :thumbsup2

Hey maybe you could use an M middle name to keep the M trend going without being too obvious.

I do like the name, but wouldn't do it cuz of the fact it rhymes with poop.

Yah, I understand all names can be made fun of, but why make it easy for the teasers?

Remember the TV show - SLIDERS?

The lead character was named Quinn - and I adored it ...but I didnt want a trendy goofy name for my son.

Sooooo - I stuck it in as his middle name.... :teeth:
