Got my box of stuff (Purchase Agreement, etc.) to join DVC by purchasing from Disney (not resale). The paperwork said that I have to call Quality Assurance within 48 hours of receiving the box. I called and got an answering machine. I've been waiting 30 minutes for them to call me back.

I assume they want confirmation that I received the package. Is there any other purpose to this call?

Yeah I don't know wha the reason is for the call. Maybe to also see if you have any additional questions answered.

I bought while on vacation. I got a call from quality assurance once I was home. It went to voicemail and I never bothered returning the call. Since I had everything processed. They never called again either.

It may not be necessary that you speak to a QA rep before you sign and return the paperwork. However, this is a very good opportunity to ask any last minute questions, or to confirm that you accurately understand important issues pertaining to your membership. When I spoke to QA, I confirmed when my MF would be billed, what my banking deadline was, I asked him to explain the "Rule-of-four", and some other questions. It doesn't take much time to talk to QA, and it might help you get a better understanding of your DVC membership.

BTW - Welcome Home!

For what it's worth, they will call you back today, even if its after their closing time. And, yes, they just want to confirm that you received your packet and to help answer any last minute questions you may have. Good luck and welcome home! :goodvibes

Well, I called at 1:30 pm. Now it's 7:40 pm, and Quality Assurance (which supposedly closes at 7:00) still hasn't called me back.

If I was supposed to call them so that I could get some Assurance about the Quality of the service I will receive as a DVC member, I think it backfired!

What is the "Rule-of-four"?

What is the "Rule-of-four"?

You cannot BOTH book & travel on the Disney Collectiion (exception being DisneyLand resorts), Concierge Collection and Adventurer Collection during the last 4 months of your Use Year BUT if you book PRIOR to last 4 months of your Use Year you may travel during last 4 months of your Use Year on these.

:)

They don't want confirmation, they can get that from fedex, they want you to call so that they can go over the paperwork and make sure you understand what you have to sign . I did an add on, I didn't call just signed the papers and sent them back, it was easy.

5forDiz's definition of the Rule-of-Four is quite correct. So don't believe any of those rumors that the Rule-of-Four means that DVC members do an average of four add-ons during the life of their membership!

Really no need to call unless you have questions. I never have except for that reason. And if you don't return the paperwork within 10 days you can be guaranteed that they will call you! LOL
