I'm new to the site and am excited about all the info everyone gives. It has been about 10 years since I have been to DW. I know there has been a lot of changes since then.

I would like to plan a trip this October to DW for my family. I have a 4 year old daughter in which would be her first experience with Disney and would like to make it a very rememeberable event.

How far in advance do I need to start making ressies ?

Will there be any discount codes to use in October?

Any info would be a great help. Thanks

If you know the dates you want to go..then reserve now.

Depending on when you are going..October can be very, very busy, with summer like crowds. There is the food/wine fest going on, a golf tournament..and whatever is at the sports center.

You can always apply discounts to your reservation later if you find them and they are available when you call..most important thing is to get the room you want reserved in the resort you want.

Welcome to the DIS!

If you have your heart set on a particular resort, I would go ahead and make reservations now. You can always switch should a discounted room or package rate become available.

Last year, they did not offer room only discounts in October. They were pushing the Fairytale package last year (the 7 nights for the price of four) at that time, so they only offered discount room rates for annual pass holders and Florida residents.

Have fun planning!

I also suggest to reserve now and what for the codes if there are to be any later....

DEFINITELY reserve as soon as you know what resort you want to stay in. There may or may not be codes for that time of year. Regardless, you can apply the discount when it is released. Like someone said October can be a very crowded time of year especially around the holiday. We have friends that went the week of the 11th last year and they said it was HOT and CROWDED! That being said, you can always work around the crowds if you know how to do it! Keep reading these boards and you will get ALL the info you need!:) If it is at all possible you might want to consider going at the beginning of Sept(most people won't pull their school aged kids out so soon-although it is still HOT) or the beginning of Nov. before Thanksgiving week. Just 1 more thing;) our personal favorite time of year to go is the beginning of Dec although you do take a chance with the weather. The Christmas season is UNBELIEVABLE. The parks and resorts are decorated to the max and there are special events going on like Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party in MK, Candle Light Processional in Epcot, and hopefully the Osbourne lights will be up in MGM this year. Virtually no crowds either. Feel free to PM me if you'd like!
