My wife and I recently purchased our first stake in DVC. I understand that members are sometimes offered discounts on cruises when paying cash. Is this true? If so, how do we learn of the discounts available?

DVC discounts/perks may be viewed via your online account. Click on "Membership Magic" and then "Special Offers" and/or "Perks".

It's a pretty rare thing to happen and has occurred a couple of times that they are having difficulty selling cabins.

We received an email for the Disney Magic a couple of years ago, don't remember what we paid but it was a good discount. I believe if they have cabins open they sometimes offer the cash discount. Watch your emails in the future.

No, unfortunately there are no cash discounts on cruises for DVC members.

There is no standard discount, no. That isn't to say that we don't get discounted cruise offers on occasion. They're pretty much just on undersold sailings and tend to be a bit last minute, though.
