My fiance is moving in with me this weekend, and we get married on the 18th. We are looking into buying a new bed because mine is a queen sized and my fiance is very tall. Right now I have a sleep number. We're not going with another one due to the high cost and the stupid ridge in the middle.

We've looked at Sleep One and Mattress Firm. We liked the TempurPedic, but again, more than we are willing to spend on a mattress. The other type of mattressed we liked was the traditional inner spring with a latex topper. There are so many little details that seemed to drive the price. Does it really matter for comfort if the springs are individually wrapped? What about that support they put on the edge of the bed so that when you sit on the edge it doesn't go down? Is it worth the extra price?

We are looking at Costco as well. I like the price on their NovaForm, but I'm wondering how comfortable it is. I don't like that we can't lay down on it before buying to make sure it is right for us. I'm also looking at their innerspring mattresses as well and trying to figure out if it will really save us money since they don't sell their stuff as sets (no box springs included).

Final question: We will be intorducing his cat to the household. I have two cats and two dogs. Any suggestions on how to make the transition go smoothly?

The one thing I always remember for mattress and taller people is the difference between a standard king and a cali kind. Exactly how tall is the soon to by hubby?

Depending on his heigth, it could be that you actually want a Cali, as it is longer than a standard king. Not by much, but it could be enough to not have his feet right on the edge of the bed.

eta: I knew I would find it.

(Standard) King Size Mattress: 76 inches wide x 80 inches long.

(California) King Size Mattress: 72 inches wide x 84 inches long.

He is 6'4". We thought about Cali King, but it wouldn't fit well in my bedroom and the sheets are hard to fine. This will at least give him a little more space than my king bed.

Looking at the reviews online of the Novaform, the one thing I am not sure of is how well it holds up over time. It seems like the majority of postiive reviews are people who have not owned it long, while the negative reviews say that it degrades over time. Does anybody ahve personal long term experience with this mattress?

Sounds like a LOT going on in your house this weekend...holiday, new partner in the house, new mattress, new animals in the house. Man, I hope that isn't a recipe for disaster. Hope all goes well for you.

I love our mattress. After enduring the tempurpedic we changed to a Shifman mattress...very comfortable. They are an investment, but well worth it in my opinion.

I'm not worried. We're not going to get the mattress this weekend necessarily. Just before the wedding (hopefully). I don't think it's going to be a disaster at all.

A queen size is also 80 inches long too, so if that isn't long enough, A California King is your only option. I'm 6'2", and DW is 5'6", and even with the cat on the bed, we're lost in our Queen sized bed. In hotels when we've had a king sized, I felt like I needed a phone to call my wife she was so far away.
