New magic bands for every trip? Or reuse them?

I have magic bands from our last trip and we are going now again and they sent me an email to order and customize new bands. I thought I could use the old ones. The old ones are linked to my experience site and I could still see the, but for some reason I have to now order new ones.

Is it a new set of magic bands per trip? If so, how do I link my ticket which I already have?

1- Is it a new set of magic bands per trip?

1- Yes. You WILL be issued new MB for this trip.
(But, you can still use your current MB on the upcoming trip, if you like.

2- It doesn't matter which bands you use, new or old. Why?

There is no reservation info, or ticket info, or credit card info,
or FP+ info "put onto" a MagicBand.

The MagicBands just contain a unique serial number that is used
to access the information that is stored in your MyDisneyExperience computer file.

So, even if you were to lose a MagicBand, the info stays locked in your file.
Disney can just set up a new band (different serial number)
to access the info in your MDE file.

The MagicBand works like the combination to a locked safe, a key to a locked door.

The MB, itself, is not the file of info or the container of the info.
The MB just unlocks the file of info to be read, when needed.

Yes each reservation will get new bands for now. I suspect that at some point they will give you a "check box" to not get more bands.

I have magic bands from a trip last September. We have another trip planned and are considering staying offsite. Can I buy a ticket, link it on MDE to my bands and make fastpass+ reservations 60 days in advance or do you have to have another stay on-site to make advance reservations?

We received our MBs on our October trip and just used them again for our stay a few weeks ago before our Fantasy cruise. We were able to use them for the FP+ selections that we made before we left home and for park admission (we have APs). I can't remember what we did for charging since we only stayed two nights before our cruise. When we made our resort (DVC) reservation for January we received an email asking us to order bands. I called the number for MDE and they told me that it was not necessary to order new bands. This worked well for us.
