Hello! Sorry if this has already been discussed but I saw a video that was posted on Youtube titled the ride that almost was and it was an amazing digital creation of a Little mermaid ride. This was originally on the DVD but some say that is going to be built in 2009. Does anyone else know anything about this? Again, if this has already beed posted, Im sorry. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

If there's a digi-creation on YT, I'm definitely going to take a look in a bit.. I'm watching this thread because I want to know too!

Yes, the Little Mermaid ride (and according to plans it's going to be great) is being built in Disney's California Adventure Park and it's slated to open in 2011.

I just found it on youtube! :woohoo:

Thanks so much for posting that! My dd watched with me, and was VERY excited.

FINALLY!!!! lol. I still think Nemo should have been a Little Mermaid ride instead since Ariel came first, lol. But I may be partial to Ariel to begin with.princess:

For more info see this recent Al Lutz artice: http://www.miceage.com/allutz/al010808b.htm

For construction updates see the OP in this MiceChat thread (look in the Paradie Pier section):

Oh wow. I have never been so excited to be an Annual Passholder!! What awesome new things they had planned. When I heard of the Little Mermaid dark ride, I was thinking more on the lines of the Pooh ride- not Haunted Mansion! :woohoo:

Feelin' the magic!

according to another forum, it seems as if that ride system is too complex for Disney to build. It can it cannot be it but who knows. Lets wait for the preview center to come out first before we all decide things... :)

It's an Omnimover ride system. Shouldn't be too complex for Disney, unless they decided to use to a different type of ride system, but the last I saw of the plans, it's an Omnimover system.

I believe Albort was talking about the video's ride system. There are two different rides we're talking about here:

A) The ride on the video that was on the bonus features of The Little Mermaid DVD. That ride system was deemed too complicated.

B) The actual ride being built. It will feature an Omnimover system.

The ride scenes will be very similar (with a rumored huge "Under The Sea" scene) to what was put on that DVD, but the actual ride systems are going to be different.

Ahhh, thanks for the clarification DLR29, that makes sense. I don't know about you guys, but I am just so excited for all the new things slated for DCA. It is going to be a long wait until 2010-2012, when most of these awesome things are complete!:)

Oh, that explains it. I haven't seen the ride video, so not sure what kind of system that is/was. I'm going to have to do a search and watch it. Now I'm curious to see what was originally planned.:)
