New lens for D60?

I have the Nikon D60 with just the kit lens. Looking to add a new lens and trying to decide which would be best.

Limiting myself to just the AF-S lens so I can take advantage of auto-focus.

Without spending more on a lens than I did the camera, I think I narrowed it down to two:

AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G

or

AF-S DX VR Zoom-NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED

My thinking was I would probably get more use from the prime then the zoom at Disney. Not sure though.

Which ever I don't get would probably be the next lens I added.

What are yoru thoughts or is there a better lens out there that I am missing.

It is just fine to spend more on glass than the camera body. Someone (i will find out and give them credit if possible) else worded it perfectly on these boards... A camera body is just a computer attached to a lens. I am of the opinion that I will spend my money on quality glass and when the time is right upgrade my D40.

As for the lens to add to your bag...

The 35mm 1.8 would be fun to lay with onthe dark rides. I have an old series E 50mm all manual that I would love to upgrade to a 35mm that would both meter and auto focus. They are also fun when it comes to DoF.

I recently added the 55-200 VR to my bag and love it for wildlife. Just make sure you get the VR as it is well worth the extra.

If I had the money to spend I would grab an 18-200 for walk-around lens. This would come in handy when you want to pack light and still be flexible when it comes to wide and zoom lenghts. Plus it is less lens swapping in the parks.

I have the 55-200 and love it and use it the most. I would like to get the 35mm/1.8 as well but ended up buying a macro. Good luck.
