New kitchen... any recommendations?

I need recommendations for a reliable (cheap!) kitchen supplier/installer.

Hi Belinda

I had a new kitchen fitted by MFI a couple of months ago, and was very happy with the result.

You can plan your kitchen in-store on their computer and get a printout of how it will look.

MFI use independent fitters so I guess the result does vary on how good the fitter is, but our fitter did a very good job, and MFI rang the day after he had finished to check everything was OK.

Can I ask, did you also buy any new applicances from MFI along with your kitchen?

We bought all our Neff integrated appliances from a company called Marks Electrical who are based in Leicester. Delivery is free and they were VERY competitive. I got them to quote for all the appliances and told them a competitor had quoted us cheaper and they knocked another £200 off the price. We did a LOT of research and rang a lot of companies from the back of interior design magazines. You can also try online stores like....

The only appliance we bought from MFI was the oven and hob which we got for half price. They usually have some kind of sale or special offer on. We ordered our kitchen in April and the offers were very good.

When they have the 1/2 price offers on aren't the prices usually marked up slightly anyway to compensate?

The reason I ask is for instance they have a Bosch stainless steel single oven for £499 and there aren't any offers on the appliances at the moment, but you can get it elsewhere for £379!!

I suppose it's like booking your Disney holidays - it certainly pays to shop around!!!
