I just want to complain a little. I made it all the way through round 2 of interviews... I was so excited. $15,000 pay increase! (ok... I make dirt now...) I was very qualified...

... and I got the call that they hired someone else.

:guilty:

It stinks. I've been there.

But, I got "that job" a month later when the person who they hired didn't work out - there was some issue there that never got totally explained.

It was a terrific job that I held for many years. So...you NEVER know.

So, dust yourself off, write a nice note to the HR/interviewer: "I would have really enjoyed working for X Company and perhaps you'll think of me the next time you have an opening for which you think I'm qualified..."

Good luck!

I had been at a big company for 14 years and applied for a job. Actually both my colleague and I did. She ended up getting it and while I was happy for her, I was upset too. I then found another job doing the same thing at another place, stayed there for 2 years but still longed to work at the other place. My friend hated it and told me it was terrible and the people were terrible. I lost touch with her and then one day, on their classified page, a supervisor job for that same area was listed. I was able to track down my friend and she said that she had left and that the supervisor was terrible. Well, guess who has that job now!!!! My friend still doesn't know I got the supervisor job and now I'm really glad I didn't get the job that she had. It was terrribly stressful and now the area is so much better.

Things do happen for a reason.:thumbsup2

I used to do a lot of staffing. My organization encouraged applicants to come in for a "post board interview" usually with the main interviewer or with HR. This can be just an informal sit down or even a telephone conversation. You can find out from the interviewer/HR how you can improve your interview technique and do better on any subsequent interviews. It is also a positive and pro-active way to demonstrate your continued interest in that organization!
