I have seen people mention New Jersey week, and I am just wondering what it is and how it affects crowd levels? I assume the schools are off for a few days and many choose to take vacation then? We are going Nov 8-15 so just wondering what to expect? Thanks! :wave2:

I've never even heard of NJ week, but i'd like to know more about it if anyone can offer any info, as I am from NJ. :) Thanks! :wizard:

lol I am from Jersey too and only learned of Jersey week here. Every year there is a big teacher convention in the beginning of November- it is usually 2 days long- most schools have shortened days the other 3 days so I guess a lot of people go to Disney at that time. Although we never have and I don't know anyone that goes. I do think some schools actually close for the week but not us. So no Jersey week for us NJ people.

i also only heard of jersey week here on the dis boards!! i first thought it was a week that everyone wore jerseys of their favorite teams!!!!! :rotfl2: i guess i was wrong!!

Only state to get a week named for it.

It is very busy during Jersey week. Especially if Election Day and Veterans Day fall close to it - not sure what the dates are this year. If crowds bother you then it might be a little unpleasant.

Aw, and here I was thinking that us NJ people got a whole week at WDW officially named for our state! hahahah oh well, NJ still rocks :) :teeth: :wizard:

"New Jersey Week" refers to the week that the NJEA (New Jersey Education Association) holds its annual convention. This year it will be 11/9 and 11/10. If I am not mistaken, Veteran's Day will be celebrated on Monday 11/13 and some NJ public schools have 1/2 dyas on the days preceding the convention for parent/teacher conferences. As far as the crowds at WDW are concerned.......I have no idea! :surfweb:

We've gone twice during Jersey week. It's packed. I guess that term is relative to what you're used to. We try to go during non-peak times during the school year and we keep experimenting. If you normally go during Christmas, Easter or summer then it won't seem so bad. Most people go from Sat. to Sun. so that Monday the parks empty out. Our kids don't get additional days off that week and only get off Election Day if it's a Presidential Election.
Here is a description from mousesavers.com:

"Jersey Week" - Usually the first or second week of November. The New Jersey schools have a teachers' convention (upcoming convention dates: November 9-11, 2006; November 8-10, 2007; November 6-8, 2008). Lots of people pull their kids out of school for the whole week and add on the weekend before and/or after, taking this opportunity to go to Disney World in the "off season." New Jersey is the single biggest market for Walt Disney World -- you do the math!
