new iphone - anyone get theirs yet????

I want the new iphone but was not willing to stand in line this morning. On my way to work at 7:00 there were already about 20 people in line.

Here is my problem we really want two iphones but my husband is still in his contract and it will cost him $499 to get the new iphone. We would like to give his phone to another member on our family plan and us get the two new ones. I am being told we can not do this. Any ideas?

Are any other members of your family plan eligible for an upgrade? If so, you could upgrade and then have ATT switch the numbers. We did this about a year ago when dh "needed" a new Palm phone. Worked fine, but they forgot to switch the data plan when they switched the numbers - got a surprising bill!

We went & talked to them & they reversed it - but let's just say you don't want to be using a bunch of email/etc. without a data plan in place.

I'm leaving in about an hour to go pick up my new phone at the Apple store - reserved it last week.

Does he have to have one now? How much longer for the contract.

I am hoping in two years when my contract is up that they will have 60gb iPhones. So if he waits until his contract is up, maybe he can get a better phone than what is out there now.

DH just went to the Apple store and they have a security gaurd at the door with 2 employees. They will not let you in the store unless you are there to buy the new phone. They are limiting the number of shoppers in the store at one time. he did not stay to go in.

Just came back. There were queues set up outside the store (one for pre-orders and one for no pre-order). There was also a different queue inside the store of other questions. The line was very short when we got there and didn't wait too long. We also are not eligible to upgrade but I wanted to add a line and switch the phone number from my old phone to the iphone and give the new number with my old phone to my dd. They couldn't do any of that in the store. So, they set up the iphone with a new number on an individual plan and we will need to go to AT&T to get the rest straightened out. Hopefully it won't be much of a hassle.

I have a lot of playing to do to learn how to use the phone

DW pre-ordered hers from AT&T online and is (not so) patiently waiting at home for the delivery. It's showing as shipped and is SUPPOSED to arrive today, but there's no more detailed tracking information available.
