Hi all,

We just signed the contracts and are waiting to send them back this week...does anyone know of any new incentives offered this week?

Check dvcnews.com, they keep very update on both Member add-on incentives and new purchaser incentives. We did receive a flier couple days ago for member add-on of 100 points at VGC or AKV receive 4 annual passes to WDW or DLR ( If you are a new purchaser receive 8 annual passes to WDW or DLR for purchase of 160 points minimum at VGC or AKV.)

:goodvibes

I got a postcard last week about the AP incentives and they said they were ending on Jan. 31st.

That leads me to believe that incentives might change after that date at some point.

Sometimes, the incentives begin the next day and sometimes it could be a few weeks later.

So do you guys think the current incentives are good or have you seen better?

Quick question: are the annual passes for life or just for one year?

You get vouchers and then once you turn those in for an AP, that AP will only be good for one year.

However, if you buy and get 8 AP's and are only a family of 2, then you would have passes to cover you for 4 years as the WDW passes have no expiration (I believe).

The annual pass deal is 4 total annual pass vouchers (or 8 pass vouchers), it is not a yearly bonus of annual passes.

I believe the webcast deals offered this December was better than the current annual pass promotion (if you figure the cost of the passes vs the point discounts), I'm sure they will offer better discounts in the future (but they may raise base prices so the total savings may not be too dramatic. I think there is usually some form of a spring promotion, and/or they may do another webcast..

note: if you finance through Disney, you have to make more than 1 years payments on time before they send out the annual pass vouchers..

I think that the incentives are okay right now, especially at AKV. They were a bit better last year, at least for BLT, but that was when the base price was only $112. Now, it is $120 so they would really have to take a lot off to get the prices back down to those levels (I got it for $96.00/ppt last April).

Thanks. I am trying to decide between resale and Disney.

Unless you are set on BLT (and even now, some of those are showing up), you will save by going resale.

Of course, it does take longer and if you are hoping to travel on DVC points soon and make reservations quickly, Disney may be the better choice as you will have points within a day or two.

Plus, they are allowing new buyers to get in to AKV or SSR with only a 100 point minimum. The incentives are not the same (and not sure what they are but I believe it drops AKV to $97 a point) but to me, it makes going through Disney more attractive.

Good luck!

We are seriously considering buying into AKV for the 100pt deal at $97/pt. Up front cost is a big deal for us and we can add on later, but at least this gets us in the door!

My parents are considering buying in and the deal they have been offered for AK is IMHO awesome!

160 pts, (min buy in) $15 off the base price per point, plus an additional $2400 credit towards the purchase. This drops them down to what we paid for our SSR points 3 years ago.

The min buy in at AK is 100 points at $97/pt, they are offering 100 pts at AK and SSR... Let your parents know, if they are going to use 160, then go for it, but dont forget that they will get last years points as well, so for the 100 points, they will have 200 pts to start with...

Wow! Are you sure this is what they are getting? That would mean they are getting a discount of $30.00 off the base price to bring it to $82.00/ppt.

I have not heard, even from the webcast, of discounts this low, unless they are receiving a special CM discount or something.

Typically, the credit toward purchasing is the discount off base price, not in additional to it, so if they were able to get this, you are right, it is a wonderful deal!

My husband and i just bought 100 points at SSR on Monday through Disney. We had a May trip already planned as a cash reservation and because we Disney was able to get us the room we wanted at the resort we wanted for this trip, it was worth the higher price. The lowest resale I saw for 100 pts at SSR with 2009 pts was $72 per point...BUT we would have had to fork out about $3000 for our accomodations for the May trip since resale takes longer. So, at $102 per point ($10 discount) and no closing costs, we broke even AND we are travelling as DVC members this trip!

Also - about the incentives...if you purchase enough points to get 8 APs, it says 4 for WDW and 4 for DL!

So you get last year's points as well? Is this only for AKV and SSR?

The guide told us that it would be any of the ones they are selling (BLT, SSR and AKV).

about the APs...is this in ADDITION TO the discount off per point or INTEAD OF that discount?

I was told that it was either or...meaning that we could either choose the APs OR have the discounter per point price BUT NOT BOTH!

I got the answer...it is EITHER OR...you cannot have a discounted point and APs on the same deal.
