My best friend's daughter Just got back from their honeymoon. The honeymoon was great but soon after things got bad real quick. Seems like her new husband got abusive and started using four letter words on her. My friend's wife is mostly even tempered. The other night she got a call from her daughter stating things were getting out of hand and she needed her to come over fast because the words were getting pretty rough. It ended up that daughter came home with mother. Now I usually mind my own business but I had to know what was going on so I asked what kind of words was he using and how long has it been going on. The words were dust, wash, iron and cook.

Geesh. You'd think something as ugly as that would come out during the dating period. I hope she is smart enough to stay far away from that brute. One Christmas before we were married my (now ex) mother in law gave me an iron as my gift. I should have known then the marriage was destined to fail. I hope this young woman finds happiness with another man smart enough to hire a (strapping young male) housekeeper.

They should hire a hot pool guy too. I have one , shhh don't tell dh that the pool deflated last year.

She didn't write it into the pre-nup that she couldn't be expected to be put through that kind of mental cruelty? :confused3

You know, marriage really changes some people. :sad2: They go from this:

If some idiot were trying to get me to do that stuff simply because I was the woman in the relationship, our marriage would be over too! My husband cooks and does the laundry as well as bringing home the paycheck.

She didn't notice the red flags? Really, people get married way to quickly now a days....

What I don't get is how these women continually get into these types of situations then have the nerve to complain about them..I mean come on, you should have KNOWN your D(evious)H was going to be like this..maybe she should have had a background check done BEFORE she got too involved?? Also I am SURE one of his other past relationships that failed would have been happy to let her know he expected these atrocious things from her! Geez lady do your research...

No way would *I* have gotten into this kind of horribly abusive relationship..

(LOL, I totally do everything but cook in our house..I used to but after DH accidentally broke our foreman grill last Sept. I went on "meat cooking strike" until it was replaced..still on strike and loving it lol..)

Sounds like they thought marriage was going to be one big fairy tale and forgot to discuss real life. Or did they think they were going to continue to live at home and parents would do everything for them?

Possibly another bride who only dreamed about the wedding day and never gave an ounce of thought to what the marriage would be like?

Surprise! You are an adult now.

LAUNDRY!

It would be hilarious if the world were not FULL of people who actually live like this-many of them are right here on the DIS daily. There is a movement where women are required to stay home and do the housework while men work and make all the financial decisions.
While I REALLY want to think this is a funny thread, it's just not. People are living it.
