We just moved into a new hosue on Saturday. For 2 weeks we had been staying with my SIL while between houses. Our 18 month old DS slept great in his pack n play at SIL's. For the last 3 nights DS is waking at 4 or 4:30 a.m. and will not go back to sleep. I am guessing that its the new house - new paint and carpet=new smells. But am surprised that he slept so well at SIL's. Maybe it's all the turmoil with the move and new place (he had been to SIL's many times before so it was a situation he was used to)? Any advice? Any reassurances? Any money to help pay for the Starbucks that I was forced to get :rotfl: ?

What time does the newspaper get delivered in your neighborhood???

When we first moved into our new house form our first apartment, my bedroom was a whole lot smaller in the house than in the apartment and I used to wake up feeling like I was in a cave. I could actually "sense" the closeness of the walls, if that makes any sense!!!!! ;)

I would give it a few days till the baby gets used to the new place, till the new sounds become recognizable and so on.

The paper is delivered at 4:45. I know that because I have been up with DS for the last 3 days  I wish DS would sleep until our 2nd paper is delivered - that's at 6:45 :goodvibes

DS's new room is a lot bigger - and a different color.....maybe that's it?

I would guess SIL's felt more vacationy like--pack n play associated with travel. If he never had issues in the PNP before--then that is probably why he was okay at Auntie's house.

Crib in a new house--completely strange and that is probably why baby is a little off. He probably just needs a little time to adjust.

How bright is your son's bedroom? Do you have window coverings?
My son has a big window and a smaller half circle window on top of it. We had put up some blackout shade over the entire window but decided it looked too much like a cave during the day so we only took down the part over the regular window as it had a slat blind on it that was closed. Well my son (age 8 mo at the time) started to wake up around 4 every morning, it took a while but it finally came to us that the sunlight was waking him up. So we returned his room to the cave like state it was in and now he sleeps until 615 or so. Amazing that I now think of that as sleeping in, what a difference a baby makes.

Well up until last night we had no window coverings. The blinds guy came yesterday - installed the exact same blinds that we had on the old house. So I thought - great, now that its not so bright DS wont be waking up at 4:35 anymore. Well I was right - he just got up 30 minutes earlier .

It may affect your evenings a bit--but have you thought of having his evening routine shifted a bit later just to see if he will sleep a bit later?

I have done this sometimes when mine were little.

It took a couple of days for my DS to get back to his old routine. It may just take a few more days before he goes back. Good luck to you.

We moved into our new house about 2 weeks ago and for the 1st few nights our DD - 6 1/2 came into our bed during the night. It stopped after a few days. I'd just try to get your DS back on his regular routine as much as possible. I know that's not easy to do with unpacking boxes etc but it'll go a long way to calming him down. Don't worry too much in a few weeks he'll be doing something else that'll cause you to :confused3.

Is there a neighbor leaving for work around that time? :moped: We had this situation, and we figured out that the neighbor across the street had a LOUD muffler, but we couldn't hear it from our room. DD, however heard it every morning!
It took her some time to get used to it.
