New Hotels just addition? Is that the future of DVC?

Talking exclusively at WDW, do we think there will be more hotels? And If so, what's left? Contemporary, Poly, Grand Floridian, AKL, Beach Club and Boardwalk all have DVC add-ons now. Are there any premium resorts I am missing?

Are we done? Or they going to make DVC versions of mid-tier resorts? Coronado or Port Orleans perhaps? Or are we going to see more stand alone? Maybe a new hotel concept? (gasp!).

IMO DVC will stay in the deluxe business. Building a stand alone resort is very expensive and I don't think that we will see another stand alone for years if ever.

They have run out of deluxe resorts though.

Just random thoughts on possibilities:
1- there were unfounded rumors that they could put 2nd tower at BLT and knock down garden rooms (rumor only no basis for people to freak out how they better not take away Garden rooms).
2- Yacht Club as others mentioned.
3- Hotel/DVC at Ft Wilderness. If As Bill suggest they won't build a new stand alone DVC. I always thought revitalizing the Ft Wildnerness DVC plans would be neat.
4- Always options for new monorail resort next to T&T
5- I always thought a hotel on the EPCOT Monorail would be interesting.

The likelihood is another story.

I'd think the Garden Tower rumor was dubious just on the basis of the Contemporary's convention center. Garden Tower is where they put those conventioneers, and conventioneers are good $$ -- likely better than DVC, truth be told, because you get the catering business.

I do know there are some (physical) limitations on what of the land around the Lagoon is buildable.

There really are only two stand alone DVC resorts at WDW, OKW and SSR. SSR didn't do as well as OKW. All the other WDW DVC resorts are attached to other Disney Hotels where the bulk of the restaurants and amenities are located. The other stand alone resorts of Vero Beach, Hilton Head and Aulani all have struggled to sell out taking many more years than expected. Even at the Grand Californian DVC is just a small portion of the cash resort. DVC members want amenities and lots of restaurants to choose from and it is cheaper then to connect to a cash resort.

What I am hoping is that DVC returns to building regular one and two bedrooms (lock off and dedicated 2BRs). I know that many bookings are only in studios but what attracts buyers is the ability to book the larger accommodations and some find that they cannot do without those rooms.

It will definitely be interesting to see what happens after the expansion at WL.

Yeah, I figured Yacht club might come up. But I wasn't sure since it's not that dissimilar from beach club. What Sammie said is what had me thinking - they are running low on deluxe resorts to add on to.

Of course you make a good point Bill - they should just expand the existing resorts more and more. However, I was hoping (I know.... I would also like a fifth gate, and THAT"S not gonna happen in the foreseeable future either) that we might see a new variety / option to try out.

Of course, i guess it's less of an issue if they continue the trend of reducing the theme. Eventually it'll make no difference if you are at OKW, BLT or VWL. You'll get white walls, a generic tv, generic cabinets and stark furniture and like it! (Or else Mickey will send around a couple of goons to make sure you do).
