New Hot Dogs at Casey's

Like lillywdw says, these may resembele the Chicago Hotdog, but probably aren't the real deal.
Just like the cheesesteaks being Philly cheesesteaks and the crabcakes being Maryland crabcakes.
However, they are different and it's probably a good menu addition.

real hot dogs come from the north east only. if your ever get the chance sahlen's hot dogs are the best.

mustard only. what does chicago know about hot dogs... they got the cubs.

I'm from the Northeast and lived there nearly my whole life, and am now living in the Midwest, but even when I lived in the Northeast I knew that Chicago hot dogs were the best by reputation. Now that I live closer to Chicago, I can say they take their hot dogs very seriously here and they are fabulous.

I agree that it's unlikely to be a real Chicago hot dog. If they don't have a Vienna All Beef Hot Dog sign in the window or by the register (and I think that they would if they were serving them, as it's a major selling point to hot dog snobs), then they're probably using the same hot dogs as they use for the other menu items. As far as the poppy seed roll, that one is easy enough to identify, and again, without it, the hot dog is just a facsimile of a true Chicago Hot Dog.

I have had some of the best crab cakes of my life outside of Maryland (in fact, probably most of the best ones I have eaten were not in Maryland), but I have NEVER found a decent cheese steak outside of Philadelphia. I've found very good steak and cheese sandwiches, but there is just something about how they do them in Philly that makes them better. I suspect it's like how the NYC water supply makes the dough better for NYC-style pizza.

I fell in love with Chicago dogs when my son moved there. Haven't been able to find them many other places, but this month, Sonic has come out with one! YAY! It may not be the REAL DEAL, and therefore, Chicagoans would most likely turn up their nose, but for me, they are a good substitue! Poppy seed bun, and all the usual fixin's - except the lime green relish, nobody seems to do that, lol.

I wish Casey's still had their all beef dogs, but I fear this item is simply their new dogs with different toppings.~sigh~ Casey's used to be a must-do for us - now, not so much.

We used to go to Casey's at least once per trip when they had the all beef dogs. Since they have gone to the chicken type of hot dogs, we haven't eaten a hot dog at WDW.

A Chicago-style hot dog is a steamed or water-simmered, kosher-style, all-beef frankfurter (Vienna Beef Dogs) on a poppy seed bun. The hot dog is topped with yellow mustard, chopped white onions, sweet pickle relish (often a dyed neon-green variety),a dill pickle spear, tomato slices or wedges, pickled sport peppers, and a dash of celery salt.

YUM YUM!

That sounds good! I want one!

we had hot dogs at casey's a few years ago with high hopes, but wasn't that good :( .... the frankfurters from Sommerfest at the Germany pavilion are delicious though with some spicy brown mustard and sauerkraut.

If only they would get real Nathan's hot dogs and buns!!!! What about that, New Yorkers?????

Oh my dearie! It's been so long since I have had a *true* honest to goodness Chicago dog. I had nearly forgotten all about the poppy-seed bun, all steamed and soft. Yummy!
I used to work at a hot dog shop right outside of Chicago called, "Max's". Divinity. Sometimes I still dream of the food there. LOL Of course, I left off the onions, relish and peppers on mine, but it was delicious just the same.

We just has a good place open up down here. It's is owned and operated by a family that is from Chicago. Apparently, it was only recently that the Vienna Beef hot dogs were allowed to be shipped. As soon as they found out about that, they opened the place here. They have real Chicago hot dogs, Vienna Beefs, and the BEST cheese fries.

Every so often we order some stuff through Tastes of Chicago. It's not as good as if you were up in Chicago, but it's good enough to give us that taste that we miss.

Is there anywhere to sit down at caseys? Big hot dog eaters here - yes we are from the Chicago area....

Yes, there are tables outside and a few inside.

But take it from one Chicago person to another, do NOT bother with a hot dog at Casey's. I am sure that they are the same crappy tasting dogs, just served "Chicago Style." After one taste of a hot dog at Casey's, I suddenly realized why the rest of the country puts ketchup on them- YUCK!!!

I like the way you think. I suggested something along those lines about a month ago and got flamed by a bunch of posters who want something different... special... disgusting to make their WDW vacation magical. I guess those crappy chicken dogs on crumble buns does that for some...

My dad was born and raised most of his life in Chicago. They live in WV now...whoa! I was thinking of ordering some things and giving him a "Father's Day" true Chicago hot dog dinner. :goodvibes Or at least somewhat close.

Speaking of the poppy seed bun...my daughter then only 4 asked me, "Mommy can we get one of those hot dogs with the ants on the bun?"

It still cracks me up 18 years later!

Now, in addition to the Chicago style hot dog. If they offer a Maxwell street polish or a pork chop sandwich, I am soooo there............
