We are currently booked at Embassy Suites S and I happened to be checking hotel prices on Hilton's site and noticed they have a new hotel opening up! Looks like it's being called Homewood Suites by Hilton Anaheim Convention Center/Disneyland Main Gate....could the name be any longer??? Anyway I'm wondering what others' experiences have been at Homewood Suites? DH is Hilton gold and usually stays at Hilton or Doubletree properties so no experience at Homewood.

We've stayed at a couple Homewood properties in San Diego and Bakersfield. They were both nice, clean, and comfortable. They have full kitchens complete with some cooking and serving tools. They even had BBQs available to use on the patio. They offer complimentary breakfast daily and dinner and drinks (incl wine and beer) on weeknights. The food isn't fantastic but it does the job and saved us some restaurant bills.

I didn't know there was one that close. I'll have to check it out.

Thanks for the info. We aren't big breakfast eaters so anything free works for us! The site says they are opening in July but not taking reservations yet. I called Hilton today and they couldn't tell me either when reservations will open up.

I've stayed at the Homewood in Victor NY for some extended work stays. I really liked the hotel, nicer than the Hampton Inn which was the other Hilton offering in the area. The room layout was good, and the breakfast option was also generally good (though a little tiresome in to the second week of a 3 week stay...).

I gather this hotel is going to be by the Toy Story lot (on the same side of Harbor) so that could be a good option for getting to the parks.

I love Homewood Suites so am very curious about this one! Walking distance? I'm having a hard time picturing location.

Yes walking distance! I put the hotel address to bus drop off entrance into google maps and it's .6 mile. Looks to be right in front of the Toy Story parking lot.

I know it is not unusual but they are going to be charging $15 a night to park. I always hate when hotels charge for parking or internet. I'm watching for the opening date to check out prices, but have to keep that fee in mind.

I think it is the one being built next to Bw Raffles. It is not walking distance to the park! But plus side is that it it right next to the toy story parking lot. Last may we stayed at Raffles and walked to toy story parking lot. No one said anything when we would walk over there. It was nice to have a shuttle back after a long day at the park.

I guess everyone's idea of walking distance is different. Last year we were at Doubletree, about 1 mile from park, and we considered it walking distance. This is only .6 to bus entrance at the park so we are pretty excited about the closer walk.

Walk ability in the morning is far different than walk-ability at the end of the day. But if you did a full mile last time this should be a cake walk. And as others have said you can always use the Toy Story buses to get to the park if you wanted to.

$15 a night is high. It's almost as high as the park parking lot. Most hotels have a parking rate of $10 or less. Hotels charge too much for parking and resort fees just so they can list their rates as lower. They hope guests won't consider that in their overall price.

Maybe. But also consider that not everyone drives to DLR, and many people would rather not be charged for parking when they don't have a car. I never consider parking fees, because we never, ever, have a car at DLR. There is just no need for it, not for us anyway. So to me it makes sense that they charge those who use that service, rather than charging everyone.

I don't think anyone should be charged...it should just be a part of your stay :)

I stay at Homewood a lot for business. Love the little kitchen and the separate living room, so much space. Free breakfast (waffles, eggs, cereal, sausage, etc) and nightly free drinks and lite dinner. (You don't get to choose what's for dinner so you're at their mercy of what they are serving, but it's free. Usually always has a small salad bar with it)

I guess it makes sense to me that hotels charge for parking, not that I like paying it, anywhere space is limited. It happens in every big city downtown hotel (but often $20-$40!!!) and space is so tight for hotels around DL that I am surprised that any of the hotels don't charge-and it especially makes sense when a good proportion of folks don't bring a car. Now resort fees are another story-if you charge every guest something, then yeah, it's deceptive not to just add it to the room rate.

Their page is now saying that they will open in September. Bummer since we go in Aug. Oh well, there's always next year!

They are now accepting reservations with an arrival date starting Nov 1st. As it gets closer to their opening date they will open up earlier arrival dates. I plugged in a few different dates and found some at $129 per night.
