New Homewood Suites Delayed

So I got a call today (less than two weeks before our scheduled arrival on Nov 4th that our reservation from July can't be honored. We will be staying 3 nights. They have alternate reservations at the Embassy Suites Orange County (2 miles away) and will comp our shuttle passes. It is a little cheaper (~$12) per night. But the reviews are so so. Or we can stay at the Residence Inn Garden Grove for ~$28 more per night and we would have to figure our transportation to the park. It seems to have better reviews but unsure how it truly compares to ES. I am also searching for other options but we are just TWO weeks out. Grrrrrr! I was so excited to stay at a clean clean clean brand new hotel. :-(.

With the residence inn I had a 2 bedroom suite booked (1 room with twin beds and another with a king.). That sounds comfy but again, more expensive than originally planned plus having to pay for a shuttle.

Thoughts on either hotels or suggestions on other places? Thanks!

The Residence Inn is within walking distance, it just is not that close. But if you wanted to save the money there, it is possible. Have you looked on cheaptickets or orbitz? I'm guessing Harbour is out though it might not be bad given your dates.

Oh wait, the Garden Grove RI? Hrm. There is a Homewood Suites right next to that RI if they would be willing to comp your shuttle pass for there?

Also, yikes. We are booked for them in Dec and I'm hoping it's not delayed too much.

The Residence Inn I was thinking of is towards the highway off of Harbour. I don't know if that is an option, because it's likely more expensive than the RI in GG. What's your budget per night and I will start looking around? I'm pissed IRL and it will give me a good outlet lol

All that's a real bummer I'm sorry to hear about about that. We are booked right now tentatively there December 5 to December 12 but I do have back up reservations just in case.

At least they actually got in touch with you and and tried to offer accommodation unlike some people that were booked at the new holiday and they weren't really even given much information.

Unfortunately with new properties hotels restaurants anything like that unforseen circumstances can stop them from opening on time because are so many different inspections and things that have to be passed before they can open. I open several restaurants before and I don't think any of ours opened on time somewhere delayed three weeks to three months or more. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this either way

klammity jane: We had booked the new Homewood for $161 per night, were planning to pay for parking, but didn't think we were going to need a shuttle (0.5 miles away from DL). Our dates were November 4th-7th. Go for it if you see anything let me know :) That's nice of you. I love trip planning but hate pressure planning like this.

Astylla, I know it was a risk and things happen. Just sad since I was really excited about staying in a clean, brand new hotel. I had these backup reservations at RI in GG just in case. Just hadn't updated it to have my AAA membership and now they don't have any of those rooms available, boo. I can't tell how new/clean comfy it is, and if it justifies paying more than the Homewood's substitute for us at Embassy.

Park Vue Inn is open with a 2 queen normal room for your dates for a cost before taxes of 587 online BUT they have much better rates if you call them directly - like MUCH. No shuttles, directly across the street and free breakfast. It was recently remodeled too.

I was poking around looking at hotels and discovered La Quinta Suites on Clementine. It is completely remodeled with very nice looking rooms, all suites and great rates. I think you would need a shuttle though. Good luck!

The homewood website has said it was taking reservations starting nov 30 for at least a month now. How were you able to book for earlier than that?

Looking forward to reviews staying at HS once it does open. Sorry to hear you have to scramble. We don't go until March.

mgd, we made reservations back in July, and I called at the end of August when their website changed to say Nov 30th. They told me at that time that my reservation was fine and they were on target to open Nov 1st (I saw this repeated on their facebook page). Just today they started calling early reservations since they supposedly "hit a snag" with opening.

The posts on FB got yanked but it apprently has something to do with the doors not meeting occupancy standards. It appears the Fire Marshall is not signing off on the hotel creating these issues with opening. It could be a quick fix or something that takes weeks or more.
If anyone has a reservation especially in November I highly recommend making back up plans just in case.

We are reserved for Dec 9-16 but I have a reservation for PVI too, so I suppose we are covered in the off chance it's not resolved in time. Thanks for updating about the doors!

A lot of the hotels all start to sound the same to me, especially when they have the same brand name. Is this the new one on Harbor, right next to the Toy Story lot?

Yes it's very close to Toy Story.

I just messaged Homewood about our 11/21 stay and they said that the issue should be resolved within the first week of November. Sure hope that holds true.

I have just booked these for Jan. How easy is it to get to Disneyland apart from walking. I have read somewhere about the toy story parking lot been close by. I not sure how this all works. Thanks for your help.
