I've been lurking for awhile and just signed up. My DH and I have been talking about taking our girls to WDW forever and now it's finally happening! Well, not until December 2011 and staying at POP. We are making it part of our Christmas and going the week before. I know it's going to be busy, but I don't mind. We wanted our girls to enjoy it and wait until they were a bit older. The two older ones will be 7 and 4.5 so I know they will love it and my youngest will be 20 months. I am soo excited! The last time I was there was before kids! My DH has never been so I'm hoping I can make this as stress-free as possible.

Oh, and we are crazy and have decided to drive from Illinois...yikes.

to the DIS! You think you're crazy? You haven't met enough people on the boards yet! We drove down from Winnipeg with our DDs who were 8 and 4 at the time. You've got lots of time to arm yourself with good information. That alone will make busy parks seem less so.

Welcome to the Dis

You are not the least bit crazy to drive from Illinois. When we moved back to the states we lived in N. Indiana and always drove down.

We usually packed up and left around 4 p.m. we drove through the night , stopped for a big Brunch the next mid morning, and usually drove onto property around 3 just in time to check in and start the fun!

Read lots on the boards, make any ADRs as soon as possible, especially if you want any of the "hot" reservations.

Lastly, we adore Pop. We have stayed at Deluxe, but Pop is one of my favorite resorts. Just a heads up, the dining hall can be CRAZY during peak occupancy (like Christmas) during regular dining times, so I highly suggest eating at off peak times.

That said, it is still a magical place.

Thanks everyone! I did the big part and made our reservations! I told DH there is no going back now! We did the package deal with Rm/DP/Tix. Now, I am hoping a special pops up by then. I think we got a great deal without any kind of special though. Now just have to work on the little stuff until we can make our ADRs.
