I just found this board and I'm intrigued. I just love good deals!

However I am a little confused. I'm still trying to figure out the whole pin code thing.

My sister and I are considering a short trip to WDW in August. Probably from 8/13 or 8/14 to 8/17. The rate for those nights at the value resorts is $82. But from what little I've read here it looks like we can possibly get a better rate than that? Should I book now or wait until a general public code comes out? When should that be?

I received a postcard flyer in the mail about a month ago that was for WDW and some specific dates but at that time I didn't know we might consider going so I tossed the flyer out. Is this something that if I call Disney they will be able to honor without me having it in front of me? I keep seeing it mentioned on here that people are calling Disney and asking for pins attached to their names, or calling to ask for pin or code numbers? Who are they calling exactly and how do you go about doing this?

Since I am so new to this I welcome any advice. Even after reading the sticky threads I'm still a little confused. Thanks for your help!

Yes, definitely call Disney -- the number is 1-407-WDisney. I believe there may be a toll free number floating around somewhere, but I always use this one as long-distance is a nonfactor for us.

If you did indeed receive a postcard offer, it's probably for the 40% off rack rate deal and I believe your dates qualify for the discount. I'd call Disney as soon as possible and simply tell them you "lost" or "threw away" your postcard and wondered if they have your PIN number attached to your name (they should).

Good luck and let us know what happens.

I couldn't take it any longer so I called. lol

The CM was very helpful and I ended up with a 30% discount code. I was able to book ASMo for $65 a night. I really had not intended to book anything when I picked up the phone but the CM scared me into doing it before the discount was no longer offered. So I picked a tentative date and can always either cancel it or change the dates.

Now, is there any chance I will get a better offer of 40% off? If so, can I apply that to my reservations or would I have to cancel and rebook?

I'm glad you got a discount. 30% is a good discount. If you should happen to get offered the 40% discount, technically what they would do is cancel your existing reservation and then re-book. It's really not a big deal. You can do it all in one call.
