We are very excited about our upcoming trip to WDW! We are planning our trip for April of 2008. It will be me, my husband, 5 yo daughter and 3 yo son. We thought we would have to do a Value Resort, but looks like we may be able to spend a little more and stay at a Moderate. Which one does everyone suggest. Again I have 2 kids, we will be staying a full week and will do the park-hopping and dining plan. We are a fit family and like activity but also want to be close enought to things to maximize our vacation time. We are used to noise and chaos so a quite, secluded room is not necessary. My kids love the pool and playgrounds, etc. Although we will try to spend as much time at the parks possible, I know we will need breaks, naps, downtime, etc. back at the resort. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! I grew up in Florida and went to WDW many, many times but have never stayed there. This is also the first time there with kids so I am both super excited but also bogged down in the details already and we have 10 months to go!

:) I am a big fan of POFQ. It's a smaller, beaultiful resort. Great pool for little ones and pool bar for adults!

I am a big fan of CBR. Great theming, love the music, white beaches, larger resort than the other mods, but it is OK as it seems more quiet. Each resort section has a pool. Rooms are the largest of the mods.

We like riverside for the landscaping and quiet pools and a little more choice in the food court, we like french quarter because the bus (and boat) picks up and drops off first, then goes on to riverside. We like both resorts for the boat to DTD. I don't think you can go wrong any place you choose. Good Luck!

Love Both POR and POFQ. We prefer these to most of the deluxes, as we spend more time in the parks than in the room.:)

Here is a link to my 360shots of POFQ-

I was also going to suggest Port Orleans french Quarter, we're staying there next year. It is smaller in size, has a cool dragon pool slide, not to mention you also get the benefits from Riverside as well. They also have boat to DTD.

My second choice would be CSR, I think it is newer than the other mods and a lot of people love it.

Guests who have a preference either like POFQ (smaller size) or CSR (which has amenities other moderate resorts lack). CSR is great for guests on the dining plan. Pepper Market is a CS restaurant.

I would go for the CBR. Awesome theme with a great pool and food court area. Here's my advice: all moderate resorts (except POFQ) are large, and if you stay at CBR, request the section called "Martinique." It's the closest to everything and an earlier bus stop. I've stayed there 4 times and it's just awesome!

Well, I've only been to CBR for a moderate, but we LOVE it! We went back there again this March and it was great. I have some photos in the links below. Also, there's an FAQ thread on CBR you should check out also. Regardless of where you go, have a great time!

Your going to get as many replies as there are moderates on site, everyone has their favorites and all with good reasons. My suggestion look at the resorts and their themes, it is what makes each resort special to the people who love them. When you find one that peaks your interest and pick that one.

If your looking for my favorite it would be POFQ.

My favorite is POR, but because you have young children I am going to suggest Port Orleans French Quarter. It is the smallest of all the moderate resorts, so everything is close together, the pool with it's dragon slide is wonderful for younger children and the boat transportation to Downtown Disney is very convenient. Have fun deciding!

We stayed in POR as it was the only moderate that will accomodate our family size and we really enjoyed it.

It has a nice pool but you can also use the pool at POFQ with a short boat ride and they have a super cool pool!

CSR gorgeous grounds, good food ops, avg room, very large. Beautiful.
CBR really fun, food court, avg room
POR so quiet, less fun for little ones
If you can get a discount Swan/Dolphin are a deluxe. Great rooms, awsome beds. I never pay more than 139 a nite. Really big area.
You need to look at lots of pictures and read trip reports. It will help make your decision. We like trying the diff resorts but always have a least half our stay at the Dolphin.
Have fun planning!:surfweb:
