the DDE card? I see this all over the place comparing it to the Disney Dining Plan. Can anyone please give me more info on it? My Husband & I just bought into AKV and it appears you can get this DDE card with an annual pass?? Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!!!

The Disney Dining Experience card gives you a 20% discount on your entire meal, including all beverages, at many, many of the WDW restaurants. It costs about $60 and it gives the discount for up to 10 people on the same bill. It has to be bought, or at least ordered, before you arrive at WDW (IIRC, it takes about 4-6 weeks to process), and it's valid for about 13 months.
Depending on how many days you spend at WDW/year, your eating and drinking habits, you can save quite a bit.:thumbsup2

Where can I get more info on this card as to what restaurants, where to order, etc.? Thanks for the quick response!

It is only available to annual passholders. We had it last year, but are on the fence about getting it this year or not. Maybe we'll do that for our November trip when we have a group of 6 and don't want to do the dining plan. It differs from the DDP in that it includes beverages both soft and hard.

thanks for the responses...i have another question...the dde sounds like a good deal esp. since you can get 20% off of alcoholic beverages. My question is, if we have the DDP, can you use your DDE card to pay for the alcoholic beverages? I know they normally give you a separate bill for drinks. thanks again!

Many people have reported doing this. They were on the dining plan and were allowed to use their DDE card to get 20% off the bill for the drinks.

It is also possible to get the DDE without ordering far in advance to wait for the card to be mailed. For example, if you are buying your AP when you arrive. Here's what you do.

1) Buy your AP
2) immediately call the phone number for DDE (guest services can give it to you where you buy the AP) - order and pay over the phone and request a temporary card pickup
3) They will tell you to go to guest services outside EPCOT after 5pm that day or the next depending on what time you call. There you pick up a temporary card which will be waiting for you

And your permanent card will arrive in the mail about 3 weeks later.

The current price of the card is $65. This is up $5 from last December when we purchased.

Another option someone posted about recently is to call to order the AP and then tell the CM you also want to purchase the DDE card. The CM transferred the call to the DDE office, explained that the caller had just purchased an AP and then the caller was allowed to order the DDE. This will only work if you call when the DDE office is open: Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm. So it's possible that someone close to their travel dates who has neither an AP nor a DDE card could order the AP for "will call" pick up and also order the DDE from home, and then pick up the AP and the temporary DDE card at Epcot when they get to WDW. This is helpful if someone will be arriving at WDW on the weekend (when the DDE office is closed) and have to wait until Monday morning to order the DDE, and then wait until 5pm that day to pick up the temporary card.

I've only heard of one person doing this so far, so it's possible it was just an isolated case of a CM going out of their way to be helpful. If anyone else is successful in doing this, I hope they will post about it.
