I have just put a deposit on SSR and now I have a few questions that i thought you all might be able to help me with..

1) What do you do if you need extra towels or bedding upon arrival?...it will be 4 of us (me, my mom, and ds6 and ds2 now) and so the boys will most likely want to sleep on the floor. they will need extra blankets and such.

2) How do the prices of soda, milk, and such at the resort grocery store compare to those out in the real world? Is it terribly expensive or about what you would pay elsewhere?

3) I know at SSR they told me they have the grocery feature...does OKW have this as well? How about the others?

4)If you do order food to have put in the room upon arrival how do you go about doing this?

Thank you for any help you all can give me!!

1. You can order an extra towel pack for $6. Disney will not provide extra bedding/blankets, you will have to bring your own stuff (either a sleeping bag or aero bed).

On the same note: make sure you can live with the fact that you don't get daily housekeeping and fresh towels unless you pay extra. During a 5 day stay they will come once to bring fresh towels and empty the trash. There have been some postings lately where people purchased DVC without doing their homework and were upset by what was and wasn't included.

2/3. Prices are okay, probably 25% higher than Publix. We usually make a grocery store run but at times have gotten by with what's available in the resort stores. All the DVC resorts have a place where you can buy food, but the selection isn't huge.

4. Haven't done this, sorry!

Welcome home! :sunny:

1. As noted, you do not get daily housekeeping and no housekeeping if your stay is 7 nights or less other than a midweek trash and towel service. You do get charged for a towel pack, which is a set of 4 towels, etc). All the units except the studio have a W/D in the unit itself. There are W/D at all the resorts that are centrally located for the studios to use. At OKW they are by the quiet pools. They will not provide extra bedding at all and stick to this almost 100% from what I've seen unless there is an emergency like a sick child who soiled it, even then they have sometimes given hassles to the families with a sick child. You can get extra trash and towel service for $10 per each time and can get a full cleaning, the price of which varies with the unit size.

2. About like a convenience store in price and selection. If you only need a few items, it's fine. If you were trying to feed a family for a number of meals, you're better off getting to a real grocery store like Publix.

3. They all have it from what I'm told.

4. I haven't used the service since we always drive and pick up things on the way and as needed. While I have heard others say how it worked for them, it's been a while, so I'll let others give their experience as to how it worked and functioned.

Thank you for the replies.

I'm okay with the housekeeping...but the bedding is a bit different.

We always fly in and don't want to haul more than we have to. I gues that is something to consider.

I'm glad to hear that the prices aren't double or triple the cost. We usually bring juice boxes for the kids and granola bars.

I don't plan on cooking while I'm there...I don't cook at home..so i'm not cooking on vacation!! :rotfl: We just want snacks and quick breakfast items!

Thanks!!

Why not sleep on the bed with your mom and put the boys on the pull-out?

I believe there are xtra pillows and a blanket in the closet for the sleeper sofa.

We talked about that with the king sized bed in the 2 bedroom (or was it the one bedroom :confused3 ) and that would be okay, but not sure how it would work in the queen....she is extremely fluffy and I'm slightly fluffy...she likes little to no covers and I like all the covers...we don't make good bed partners!! :rotfl:

I guess I need to invest in some cheap thin sleeping bags for the boys.

Thanks for the help!!

A 1 bedroom has a king in the master bedroom and a queen sofabed in the living room.

A studio has a queen and a double sofabed. I think you would be cramped in a studio.

When I stayed at BWV in October, my 1 bedroom had the new sofabed. I went to the closet to get the extra blanket because I was a little cold while watching TV at night. There was none because it was inside the folded up sofabed.

Just realized you have a 2 year old. Depending on whether he's closer to three or closer to two, the units come with a pack-in-play that the 2 year old might be able to use. :)

He is two now, but will be 3 by next year...and unfortunately for him...he's a little on the tall side so he is a bit cramped in the pack and play! :teeth:

I might look at doing a one bedroom this year...I'll have 2006 points and 2007 points for next november so we can afford it...after that I'm not sure.

Thanks for all the help!

We frequently use an aerobed. We just pack it in our luggage, along with the pump and the sheets. Magical Express does the rest. If there isn't a blanket in the room for us to use, we just request an extra blanket from housekeeping. They won't provide bedding, but we've never been denied a blanket to "take the chill" off when napping. There are plenty of pillows in the room.

The 1 b/r may not help your situation very much----you get more space and a full kitchen but still only 1 bed (king sized) and 1 fold out sofa bed in the living room area. Perhaps you could contact a rental company for a full sized crib for your youngest. Beyond that I would plan to bring the sleeping bag or aero bed.
