New here and need advise

My name is Sue I'm from New Jersey and am married to a wonderful husband Craig. We have two sons Eric who is 14 and Chris who is 8.

Here's the situtation, Our boys, have been fighting almost every day about anything and everything for a week now, we are going to Disney next week and I don't know If they will have stopped fighting or not by then. I am hoping so, Well my husband and I have a dinner planed with our friends one night, and so we will need to leave to boys alone at the hotel for a while. If they are fighting like they have been, I think it might be bad to leave them alone. I've talked to them about at least not fighting is disney, but they are siblings so they will get sick of each other. If they aren't fighting as much by then it won't be too bad if we leave them alone. Eric will just lock Chris out of the room for a half hour, then they will be done fighting but if they are fighting the same, then who knows what could happen. My question is have you left your kids alone in the hotel and came back to them fighting?

Your instincts are correct - it would be BAD to leave them alone - either drag them along to dinner - or if you are staying onsite - park the 8 year old at a child care facility at the resorts - my kids loved it and my DH and I had alone time - this is assuming your 14 year old can be relied upon to stay in the hotel room wihtou getting into mischief. Having raised 2 kids - 1 girl, 1 boy - I can tell you the sky is the limit for the trouble even a normally good 14 year old boy can get into within 2 - 3 hours. Trust me, it probably isn't worth it to have dinner with your friends. Your husband will probably say you are worrying about nothing - but very few men actually spend the parenting time in the trenches that moms do (yes I know there are exceptions - I'm not married to one - but I've heard they exist). Good luck - my 2 are 5 years apart and I know it can be a struggle to come up with an agenda that pleases both kids.
