New Here and leaving in 9 days!!

Hi All: I have been lurking for some time (well since July when we booked our trip!!) and just registered to post today! We are counting down from 9 days now till our first family vacation to the World. I was there with my parents but dh hasn't been nor the kids. (I have a ds 9, dd6 and ds4). We are staying at the Polynesian!! Still trying to decide if I should call and have a requrest put in for a specific long house or leave it up to the Magic of Disney to give us a nice one. Any suggestions?

I just wanted to wish you and your family a wonderful trip, especially for the first timers! My first onsite stay (many years ago) was the Poly and it was wonderful! I didn't know enough to request a "special" long house, but I did mention that it was the first trip for my guests. I believe we were upgraded to a lagoon view. Personally, while I'm always friendly with the front desk staff (my family says I could talk to a post) I don't request anything special and more times than not, have been exceptionally happy with out room assignment.

A bit off topic, if I may...I hope you won't be too overwhelmed when you finally get there. Just have a great time and take the advice of the many smart people on the boards here! Happy vacation!

Welcome! I hope you have a wonderful trip! We stayed in the Roratonga Long house. I wanted another house (can't remember which at the moment) and was disappointed that we got Roratonga - and guess what? It was an awesome location! Near the volcano pool, the quiet pool, Captain Cooks, everything. And Disney picked it for me!

Oh, another quick question....Where is the best place to pick up a few groceries for the room once we get to WDW. (we are coming by MYW express or whatever they call it, so have no car to stop on the way from the airport)

We'll be there around the same time!!! 9/12-9/19 at CR...we'll look for y'all on the monorail! Our family has me, dh, 10ds, 7dd, 6dd...

There are grocery stores that will deliver to the hotel room via internet orders...there is a minimum order of $50 I think or maybe that's what the minimum is to get the free delivery. You can use the button above called "search" and type in 'grocery delivery' and find some threads with specific names.

I would leave it up to fun chance with your room..unless you have special needs...really all the longhouses are special...we were in Tokelau when our kids were 8, 5,4 and they LOVED it! Lots of lizards/bunnies hanging around. Two of ours have horrible allergies/asthma so I simply put in a request for a non smoking confirmed room...meaning please go in and smell it before you put us in there...
we had no problems....enjoy your trip!

Welcome! We were in Samoa, great location with kids, we had 3rd floor, volcano pool side. Close to everything but TTC(ticket & transpo center). Request 1st or 3rd floor to be guaranteed a balcony or veranda. 2nd floor doesn't have them. Have fun!

Hello - we will be down there on the 17th and will be using wegoshop.com. Already called to set-up the time and they were very friendly on the phone. We just need to call them when we get there with our room number.

Welcome to the boards and have a WONDERFUL TRIP - the Polynesian is truely amazing and our favorite place to be in fact we just finished making reservations for our next trip but its not until next July !
