New here and have an annual pass question

I'm sorry the DL well ran dry, so sad! Im so excited to do just a mommy/son disneyland trip! I can hardly wait to see his expression when I tell him! I'm excited too because this will be the first time I've had an annual pass since I was a little girl! Really nervous about the quiz though!

This is very true - I am sure it depends on the CM. We definitely had an all business-do everything by the book CM. This was back in January of '09 and my aunt did purchase the tickets for us, so maybe that was what set the questioning off. Maybe they only ask when names don't match or something, I don't know. But we got asked when the first use was, the name of the person that purchased them, when MM was used, if we hopped and when, and so on....

On the same trip, I over heard a guy talking on his cell phone to someone about how he was questioned upgrading his hoppers too.

It is definitely sounding like the experience you had IS what's happening lately at DLR.:sad2::mad: I am thinking my friends must have upgraded their APs right before Jan. '09 (probably December 2008) and were spared the interrogation about MMs and Fast Passes and who purchased the tickets and all that. It is very possible that once 2009 began, and all those folks descended on the parks to get their APs, DLR must have begun implementing a more stringent line of questioning for those planning to upgrade! What a pain!

But that's just crazy! I can see why they want to do it that way, but as I said in my reply to Clairabell29 above, I think it will only make people mad and hold up the lines!!

It will make people mad and/or fluster them. I am aweful at remembering details especially when I'm getting questioned like a mad woman. I will not remember things like when I got what fastpass and when we park hopped, we hop like 6 times a day and I don't wear a watch or carry my phone at the park! I think I'm just going to write everything down and carry my phone, that way I won't forget anything. UGH! Maybe I will do MM on Sunday rather then Tues just so I have less to remember! Sorry ranting again...

I don't think you should stress about it -- I would imagine they have people all of the time that don't have a clue what time it was when they park hopped. I don't see how they can really do anything if you don't remember that. It would be one thing if you didn't have a clue of who the person was that purchased the tickets...we never got asked about our FP usage. Again, I can't see them actually expecting someone to be able to tell them exactly when they got certain fastpasses. Maybe IF you used FP - but can't see them saying "Ok, exactly what time did you get your Indy FP?" :)

Whew, thank you! I'm sure I can remember my own name, so I should be good! Just had me thinking how am I supposed to remember all this! LOL

So this is slightly off where this conversation went, but still regarding the AP's. Do you get MM when you have the DAP? If not, how do you get MM tickets?

No AP gets MMs ~ the only way to get a MM is with most *military hoppers don't get the MM* 3 day or more hoppers and/OR by staying on site at a DLR hotel ~ this works for non AP holders and AP holders. We've been AP holders for the last 2 years, in order to get a MM if we want it we spend 1 night *usually our last night* at a DLR hotel and have our last day *check out* be a MM day.

About those upgrade ?s ~ yep I got 'em - What day did you 1st visit the parks? When did you use your MM? I think it is rude....

I've had the 'inquistion' happen to me and it really isn't all that bad - if it is your ticket. It was just things like, the first day you used your ticket. What park did you go into first, did you park hop, did you get any fast passes ... things like that. Things that you would easily know, if you thought about it for a second.

I actually applaud Disneyland for doing this to cut down on the fraud.

We upgraded our 3 day hoppers last week and we were not asked one question. We have done this twice and have never had an issue.

I guess I would say that it depends on the CM.

I would guess that it is kind of like TSA at the airport or crossing the border to another country...sometimes they grill you and sometimes they just let you go on your way.

But, you always have to be prepared for worst case scenario.

Thank you! We are military and that seems unfair that the MM does not come with the military hoppers. Anyways, I guess I better see how much it would cost to stay at the DLH with the AP discount.

We are military too, DO NOT buy military tickets to upgrade, you will pay more. The price you pay is more then what is listed on the ticket. Also with the promotion of everyone plays for the kids price, they aren't much cheaper! Just wanted to give you a heads up.

Thanks, I did notice that. We are just going to buy the DAP when we arrive and use the GAD vouchers towards the purchase. No need for our military discount this time.
Clairabelle - I did just get off the phone with a CM and she said that they will be bringing back the Salute to Soldiers at the end of summer-thru Thanksgiving. :) Just a heads up for you

YEA!! We are planning to go for my DS4 birthday in Oct! He and I will have APs but DH and Grandma won't. Thanks for the heads up!

Seems kind of silly to ask the questions. Someone dedicated to buying a used parkhopper could just ask the purchaser those same questions and come prepared. Not sure why they don't just require people to sign their tickets. They wouldn't need to enforce it with ID, but if the tickets were signed, they couldn't be upgraded without ID. I suppose they could still be transfered, though.

Interestingly, I called and talked to a CM about transfering Costco tickets. We were contemplating giving up our AP's and cutting back our trips to four times a year (I know! Sacrilege). Anyway, I told her our oldest was a bit of a Scrooge and if we dragged her, we could get her to go maybe once, but that we'd like to take my mom too and could they share the same ticket. The CM said, "technically" she couldn't encourage me to transfer a ticket. But she went on to say that people do it all the time. Wink, wink. When I got off the phone, I felt she had discouraged me in the same way they "discourage" food in the parks. They discourage it while they let you walk in with a cooler full of food. :confused3

It's your call, dude. :goodvibes
