New here. ? about Travel Agents

I have a question about using an agent. Can we still make our own ADR's? I'm assuming that we can--I like to be in control of that sort of thing.

if i knew a ta could better the prices i get, i would switch and work with them.

In my opinion, that is the wrong reason to use a TA.

I use a TA for their knowledge and their service and their time - so that they do the work, and I don't have to. Many times, I am too busy to book my trip, or make my ADR's (yes, you can always make your own ADR's even if a TA made your ressie), or be up at 7am to apply those just released discount codes or get the elusive Cindy's breakfast.

the mouse for less travel agency ( i read on that board) has stated that they are the only ones that can modify/change an adr once they make it. the person that uses them can't.

that was one reason i don't rely on a ta. maybe it is only that company that does it that way.

i am sure many people enjoy the use of a ta to alliviate the time consuming process it is in planning the trip and adrs.

for me, and it is probably only me, i enjoy choosing the times for my adrs
and resorts that accept the various codes.
last year i wanted one resort but they were full with the AAA packages and had to choose another place. by me handling the ressies, i was able to book the one that would be best for me for the AAA room special.


for travel out of the country, i use a ta that specializes in that area.
just don't use them for the orlando trips.

Um...I think that information may be wrong! My TA made some ADR's for my last trip for me because I was going to be out of the country when my 90 mark hit...then my kids changed their minds! I called when I got back and adjusted them with no problem!

ADR's can be made by anyone. Just because you use a TA doesn't mean you can't make your own ADRS. I do it all the time...even if my TA offers to do it for me. But it is nice to know that if you have special circumstances that you have help if you need it!

Absolutely correct June! A client can certainly make/change ADR reservations, but cannot modify/cancel a room/package reservation that a travel agent has made on their behalf.

Thanks! This is new to me and I'm used to being in control of everything so wanted to make sure I could still make the ADR's.

I've gotten a quote through AAA (exact same rate as booking directly through Disney) and know the perks, however small, I can get through them. Do other agencies give any little perks for going through them?

Why do you need a TA?

These boards are my TA and half the fun is planning and researching!

The price for 6 nights, 7 day pass (includes hopper and water parks, etc) at Pop Century in mid Jan (17th) with the dining package is $1321 (not including insurance). That's either directly through Disney or through AAA with the little perks that AAA gives.

I'm assuming that it would cost about the same everywhere, but maybe the perks are different?
