We picked up our new Great Dane puppy today. She is so cute. A little black & white mantle girl. She is just 6 weeks old.

Our DS has named her Sophia!

So now we have a new baby in the house. :thumbsup2

I sure hope she sleeps tonight.

Her breeder told us, she had a round of vaxes done today, which is making her a bit tired & she is probably running a slight fever because of it. We will be in the vet tomorrow getting her all checked out.

Congrats on the new baby!! My neighbors have a awesome Great Dane, she is such a sweetie, the only prob they have with her is that she runs through the house and sometimes puts a hole in the wall with her head lol. Since she has gotten older she is not so crazy !

Congratulations. Great Danes are fabulous dogs!

Any pics you care to share. I'm sure she's a cutie pie.

Adorable, great danes are gorgeous...very glad to see her ears have not been cut!

Thanks! We are pretty excited about her. She is doing great so far & filled with so much energy today. DS is having a blast with her.

What a cutie! We had an Akita and everyone would say "What a BIG dog!". *YOU* will have a BIG dog! Keep on taking the baby pictures like the one with the truck. You will not believe that your pup was ever that small in just a couple of months.

She's cute! I had a Great Dane many, many years ago and she was so sweet. I didn't have her ears clipped either! When I went to buy her, I was so surprised at how big she was already.

I have a Black Lab now, just weighed in at 106 lbs. Vet told us to make him lose 15 lbs....

She is beautiful. I love her natural ears. I am so jealous. It has been my dream for years to bring a great dane into my home. You are so lucky.

I have a Great Dane who is a Katrina rescue and the lady who fostered him called me last night and said she has a new one for me!!! I LOVE them. Ozzy is a fawn w/a black mask and the one im getting is a harliquin.

Sophia is beautiful!!!

ETA both of mine have natural ears

I dont have pics of my new one yet, we are moving into a new house at the end of the year and she is holding him until then for me

What a sweetie! Danes are the best...of course I'm a little biased. I love it when my 114lb+ girl (Liberty Belle - 5 years old this week) thinks she is a lap dog. Enjoy your new furbaby!

She is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Happy Birthday Liberty!!!

Congratulations on the new addition to your family! Great Danes are fantastic pets. I had one (Sam) when I was a little girl and he was such a sweetheart. :sunny:

We have owned 2 Great Danes. They are the best. We had our Angel(that was her name and she really was) for 10 years. She passed away. We were so heartbroken. She looked a lot like your puppy Sophia, when she was a puppy. They grow so fast. I really miss her. Lacey, our new Dane, came into our family January 2005. She is a big baby! She is a joy. Enjoy Sophia, Danes really are gentle giants! I am sure she will be a joy to you!

Oh I'm so jealous...my dream is to have a Great Dane one day just like your Sophie! She is adorable! Congratulations on your new addition!

Thanks everyone. She is really starting to settle in well. She is becoming very comfortable with everyone & becoming more and more playful.

She is very young at only 6 weeks, so the poor things gets pretty tired. With our other 2 dogs & my 3 year old DS, she sure gets a work out. A few minutes of hard play & then she is ready for a nap. :rotfl2: But then again, so am I. :lmao:

The first night, she was up every hour to go out. Last night she slept for a 3 hour stretch at a time, finally waking for the day around 8:00am. So pretty well. :thumbsup2

I know there are people on both sides of the fence over ear cropping. I like the natural look of her, but DH says he likes the "classic Dane look" with the cropped ears. Well in decissions like this, I always win & DH has no idea how he lost, so we will most likely be keeping her ears natural. :thumbsup2

DH and I had the same disagreement. He loves the cropped look, and I prefer the natural ears. I have a blue Dane with natural ears and I always call her Eeyore! :teeth: Celluloidgirl, she looks just like your Liberty, even down to the little white spot on her chest and the "distinguished" gray around her muzzle ;)

I will tell you that if your husband wins out and you decide to crop her ears, it's a MAJOR hassle getting them to stand. We had one of our puppies cropped and we dealt with weekly visits to the vet for ear taping for almost 6 months. And even then, one of his ears never stood, so he had one up and one down!

Congratulations on your new baby, she's adorable!
