The ACA mandates all health insurance plans to cover eye exams and one pair of eyeglasses per year (after deductibles and copays) for children under 19. If your child is covered by health insurance, check to see what providers accept your plan.my daughter needs glasses. I have never bought them before. How much should I expect to pay and do you know where is the cheapest place to go? Thank you

My daughter is twenty so a couple of suggestions won't work for her but I thank you for them
Is warby Parker $99 for everything? She only needs glasses to drive at night. I checked out one place so far and they were $258. The only extra we got was anti glare. I thought this sounded like a lot
You can also check on line. If her prescription is low then Zenni optical is super cheap and has almost the same styles you'll find anywhere else.
Also Warby Parker is a flat $99 and you can order 5 frames to try on at home then send them back before ordering.
Exactly what he saidDepends on the lens material, frames and insurance. Last 3 pairs of glasses I bought were $800......$400 out of pocket after insurance. It's hard to find frames for less than $125 and that is highway robbery in my book.
How does that work? With all the measurements they have to take for the positioning of the correction in the lens and frames, how can they do that without you going into a store?
You can get the measurements from your optometrist. The only place I've had crazy measurements was somewhere that had digital PD and there is no difference between that pair and the pairs I've bought online. PD is all that they need to buy online. Bridge and ear piece are up to the individual.
My prescription is -7.25 in both eyes and correction for astigmatism so not low index at all.
Your post reminded me of my experience at Costco. Never bought from BJs. But costco was like going to an independent office. Not very expensive and quality was top notch.I get my glasses at BJ's. My eye exam is done at Costco. I have bought glasses at Costco also. I have progressive lenses. They are also transition lenses. With the anti glare/HD, etc. I paid $225 at BJ's. Would be about the same at Costco - I liked the frames at BJ's better.
So I tried mail order. My problem besides the child frames I received from the men's collection and the lenses I couldn't see out of, was that the frames needed adjusting to my head for a proper fit. So who do you go to? If the store doesn't sell that brand, they won't touch them as they know you didn't buy from them. I have had to send back 3 pairs. Never will I do mail order again.
We have similar prescriptions.
