Was there last week. Obtained a GAC for my son on Monday for the week and was told Wednesday morning that they have changed the whole program. Now you go to one of the kiosks with the tickets for your whole group and they check you in. They are definitely still working out the kinks but just a heads up! Let me know if you have specific questions and I will try to answer.

was there In April and used the GAC. So are you saying that they have changed it again since then? meaning you still get the GAC from city hall ,. they will load your first ride on the card.. you do the ride and then go to a kiosk to get a new ride time? if so then that's what they were doing in April :)

With them linking the return time to your tickets, are you still able to get a FP for a different ride at the same time? Or does this new way eliminate that possibly now?

Personally, I don't think they'd want to mess with that aspect of it. With the (frivolous) lawsuits Disney is facing in regards to the program, disabling the DAS users from grabbing 'normal' fastpasses is in a sense unfair, and would actually give the lawsuits ground.

In its intended format, the DAS is saving your spot in line, and you do something else like watch a show etc. You are still technically waiting for your ride, though not physically in the queue.

A non-DAS user is physically waiting in line for that ride and can still grab a FP for something else.

I'm not a lawyer, but THAT would seem to not be equal. I get that the DAS is essentially a FP in functionality, but at the root of it, eliminating the use of real FP from DAS users would by definition, put DAS users at a disadvantage compared to the average park guest.

I believe the scanning of the tickets is to ensure that there are not multiple DAS cards being grabbed per family, and that each ticket can only be scanned to one card, eliminating a lot of abuse the program currently faces.

Makes perfect sense! I hope that's how it works. My son cannot wait in most of the tradition lines, so the DAS holding a spot for us is fantastic. We haven't been since they changed from the GAC, but what I've read about the DAS sounds much more fair and reasonable. We'll be there next week, so hoping the kinks are all figured out by then!

A friend used the new system yesterday. She still got FPs. She said you can now get return times with the DAS at each attraction if you want, as opposed to having to go to the kiosks. The giant difference is it is linked directly to the individual person's ticket and other members of the same party have their tickets linked to that person's ticket.

Awesome! Thanks!!

"Some people were stealing the stamp" ??? WHF? I cant understand how low some people will go ... .. WIth the GAC , they are helping you get the most out of your day ... When I got my GAC this April I would never have thought to double up... steal the stamp of forge the CM name or change the times etc in anyway... I was gratefful to have it... cant believe some people.!!!

Are you saying, no more kiosks? It is now like WDW, where you approach each ride for a return time? GROAN. I thought DL's system was so much better with those kiosks. Oh well. :headache:

I don't think that's the case, she's/he's just saying you can do the alternative.

Yes, there are still kiosks. Now you do not go to City Hall, you would just go to a kiosk to sign up for a ride. You have to have all tickets for each person in your party to check in. We were able to get a fast pass for something else while we were waiting (I did not get it for my son who has the GAC, but I was able to get it for DH and I for something we wanted to ride later in the day). Not sure if that will eventually go away though.
