New G Features...

Is it just me or ???? What is the point of the new photo app on the G? I thought about loading my pics on and then cutting them into shapes, but I really do not scrap like that anymore. Someone on the Cricut board mentioned loading sketches on it, but I cannot imagine looking at a whole sketch on the little screen...is it just me?! What do you plan to use it for?

I don't see a good use for the photo ap either. Maybe they will come up with some good use for it later on? But, I do like the other new features that came with this update, mainly the hide contours feature and when you are on a layer page and can now turn off the light image of the previous page.

We'll have to keep an eye on the Cricut board as I'm sure someone will come up with a great way to use the photo ap!!!

You and me both! I had a heck-of-a-time updating my G this time around too. My G has basically turned into a cart shopping tool.

Does the hide contour go between CDS and the G yet? I love using CDS to design (I'm old and my eyes are bad), but I want to be able to use the G to cut, because I hate having to drag all my cartridges everywhere...

The photo app seems to be a waste of disk space.

From what I've read, the contour feature works between CDS and the Gypsy. Look at post #346 in this thread and it explains all the new stuff with this last Gypsy update.

The photo app is just a photo viewer, you can't add the photos to you mat, but I read a good idea for it in another post. Someone is using it to download layouts they like onto the Gypsy. It saves from having to print them and you'll have them right at your fingertips when you are using the Gypsy.

In CDS, hide contour doesn't work unless you hide more than one in an image. Major bug there, and it has been there for years! So, that's what I mean between the G and CDS and hide contours.

Sorry, don't know! I don't use CDS. It and I just don't get along. For some reason I just don't understand it! But, I love the gypsy and have no problems using it at all! I guess you could try it and see if it works between the two?

From the little bit of reading I have done and did play with it for a bit; you can hide up to four things on one image. Unlike cds you can only hide the one.
